  • 350Z Detail

This was a co-workers, he had let someone borrow it and it came back w/ scratches all over. A few were to deep to pull out unfortunately.

Clayed the car, followed up w/ #83 and an orange pad from CMA. Then went over w/ a coat of #80 and followed up w/ a coat of S100

    and the money shot

I cant stand people who have a lack of respect for other people's property. If it was an accident then maybe they could be forgiven.

Nice job, though. Looks nice, especially since I haven't seen that colour on the Z before.

The guy was doing it in good faith. It was a good customer of his who son is in love w/ 350z's so he let him borrow it for a weekend. Then as a favor washed it. Just didn't have our degree of washing rules (most don't)

Using good techniques and quality washing tools is so important to avoid instilling scratches during the washing process. Modern clear coats are more durable than traditional single stage paints, but they are very scratch-sensitive and the scratches are much easier to see on a clear coat finish than on a single stage paint as the clear coat finish tends to amplify them.

              Good job Scott!

                  Great Job Scott.
How does the orange pad from CMA campare to the Meg. Pads? More aggressive, less products absortion.
                  350z looks great.

I am not Scott, but I will give you my take. The cma orange pad is a tad more aggressive then Meg's 8006. The orange is a nice small step up which can help be the difference between to heavier cutting pad or liquid abrasive for more abrasiveness. Further the orange pad works well when a cutting pad is not really needed, but a polishing pad is not cutting it. As to the absorption of product the orange pad is little less than 7006 and probably equal to 8006, this due to the foam compound. One other thing is I think the 7006 (just becareful when cleaning) is more durable than the older cma orange which did not have full mounting velcro on the back of the pad. This caused the backing plate to eat the pad, but it appears the LC orange pad which cma and other sell has been updated.
