  • 2005 Hummer H2

Future brother in laws roommate came to me wanting to see what I could do for some scratches down the passenger side he aquired while toying around off road along with giving the entire thing a good cleaning/dressing/paint correction/wax. The only thing he did not want done were the carpets extracted due to time constraint so I'll be hitting those up once I return from my vacation. The exterior trim was the worst part as it needed to be dressed 3 separate times to actually take the color it looks like in the finished pics. And to top it off...there was ALOT of trim.
    Upon arrival

    Bumper trim faded

Scratches down the side of the truck

50/50 shot after cleaning and dressing 3 times:

    Leather conditioned 50/50 shot:

The trim around each place mat did not want to be dressed and are permantly stained. I cleaned and dressed them a couple of different times with no difference

    Scratches gone:

    Another shot:

    Rear trim fully dressed:

    Screens wiped clean:

    Front trim fully dressed:

    Finished Pics:

Hummer looks great Brian. Having done a couple myself, I know how labor intensive they can be. Great job.

Wow that truck was just beat to hell. You revived it to say the least. Good job.

I have one comment though... It seems that you're using natural shine on exterior trim... I think that will wash off very easily. Have you tried using Ultimate Protectant?

Thanks, Don! This took roughly 9 hours. I didn't get any pics with the sun gun as the paint wasn't really cooperating in capturing any swirling. It wasn't too bad, but definitely neglected. The MF system really took care of the long scratches down the passenger side. He was more than thrilled with the outcome.

I have used both and like both. I haven't noticed anything to note as far as it washing off easily or the coloration returning back to faded. At least on my personal cars or repeat customers. I switch between this, and Adams Super VRT. Of course I like Meguiars over Adams but I like having a few different products on hand. Thanks for the tip and I will definitely keep that in mind and be on the look!

Yes, Natural Shine is a waterbased protectant meaning it will not hold up to rain or a wash. It is better suited for inside the vehicle. There are better choices for the exterior that will hold up much better. All Season Dressing and Ultimate Protectant are two that come to mind.

Great job! Those 50/50 shots of the trim were great. And while it was beat, its nice to see someone using an H2 like its meant to be.
