  • 02 Monaro. From Pink to Red.

Hi guys, just finished a full days work on this car. It was what I would call poor condition. Since 02, never polished, waxed, nothing. Just gone through heaps of brushless washes, but never dried. And I hate those harsh chemicals in the auto washes.

I didn't get much before shots, as I was keen to finish this job as the weather was shocking. These pics were all within 5 minutes before the sun was gone and I don't like using flash unless I get my full setup out, but again, didn't want to risk SLR and flash guns with the moisture in air and threat of rain. Oh, and I put the interior shot up, as my wife took care of the inside, and done a stellar job, pics don't do it justice.

Thanks for the comments guys. You got to love when the owner shows up, thinking it'll be clean, then goes WOW and then they won't stop chatting away about what it looked like new. After these shots were done, I went over with megs trim detailer, and the black cowling, grille and wheel wells were complete. The guy was video recording it in my garage. He called back Monday, and apparently has a few mates that need cars done!

Who put all those strange looking badges on a GTO???

Red is such a rewarding color, nice job!! There is a late model red Prelude I see at work all the time that's turning a nice shade of pink. I'm so tempted to offer a free detail just to save it. Really make me sad when I see it in the parking lot.

              Great work Mark

Shame to see a nice car like that being neglected, but you saved it! What products did you use?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Good one hacker Yeah, Monaro/GTO same, but Monaro has the nicer front end for sure.

Davey and LS1, I used a clay to clean it, Ultimate Compound to cut it, Deep Crystal pure polish to bring out that beautiful red, then topped it NXT 2.0. I use consumer products as I do detailing kind of as a hobby, not a business or anything. I drive trucks for a living I probably get to do a car a month, not including my own babies.

All this was done using Meguiars pads, and hand applicators, using my trusty Ryobi ERO750 VK. This machine just keeps going, close to two years now. I think I'll hang it on my wall when it dies, as this was my first machine, and it's well and truly paid itself off!

Oh and hacker, I feel bad when I see cars that are in bad condition. I told a work mate to bring his car over for a "quick" going over. Well, a weekend, and two BBQs and a few beers later, his car really popped. Well, 12 months later, he still maintains his car, and it looks at least good. He got it used and thought that it was just how it was.

Awesome job. The car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. The red color really pops !
