  • New Vette

This past Jan, I traded in my 2008 Corvette, for a 2011 Camaro SS. After driving the brick with wheels for 5 months, I couldn't take it anymore, and bought a new 2011 Corvette. The paint on the Vette was rough, don't think it was ever washed on the lot, which aint a bad thing I suppose, no dealer induced scratches or swirls. But there was some etching, and that needed to be removed, so it was time to go to work. I clayed the car, and followed up with Ultimate Compound on my LC tangerine pad. That got the etching out, and back to a smooth finish, so I changed to the Ultimate Polish, again using my tangerine pad. After polishing, I tried the Ultimate Wax, using my crimson pad, pretty happy with the results. This new Supersonic Blue is a strange color, looks blue one minute, dark gray another, and sometimes even has a purple look.

      Congratulations!

Great process and great result. Really nice color.

      Good work!

What did you use on the tires? Very understated shine. Nice.

Thank you. The pictures really don't do it justice, it doesn't photograph well in the garage, and it's raining out, so I couldn't get em outside.

Thank you. I used Black Magic on the tires, and after it sat a while, I wiped them down with a clean dry rag. I don't like a wet look, and wiping them a second time, keeps it from slinging up the doors.

Congratulations on your new ride!!! So you're sacrificing the 2 extra seats huh?

I think you made the right choice with the Vette! I'm sure it's a much nicer and more fun car!

The paint looks flawless too! Please post more pics! Also, you need to update your avatar.

Thank you. Nope, not this time around, my last two Vette's were manuals, this one's an A6.

Thank you. Yeah, I sacrificed the rear seats, but they never got used anyway. I've had two Vette's previous to this one, and just couldn't enjoy the Camaro like I did my Vette's. The Camaro is a nice looking car, but it's about as agile as a 350lb woman on roller skates. The C6 handles like it's on rails, it's just a really fun car to drive.

Haven't really had a chance to take any pictures, snapped a couple after the first wash, and the two interior shots a few minutes ago. Still need to get it up on a lift, and clean the undercarriage & rubber airdam.

Nice choice in color. It is different, but it is cool.

Welcome aboard to another Vette driver!

I saw pictures once of a new Camaro next to a C5.....that Camaro is Really big.

Beautiful car and cool color choice! Wow, I'm surprised to hear about the Camaro. Was it really that bad? Got any pics of it? Been a long-time Camaro lover, even if they are bloated.

Thank you. Yeah, the Camaro is huge compared to the Vette.

Thank you. The Camaro is a great car, but it's just not a great handling car like a Corvette. The Vette has quicker throttle response, cornering, etc, the fun factor just aint there with the Camaro.
