  • What a difference

    Hey guys!
This past Wednesday I met with a new customer that wanted to have their car detailed as a fathers day gift. This was something they wanted to have done no later than Thursday and since I typically don't detail on the weekdays I was a bit hesitant only because of the time I knew it would take for this particular job. The car would be dropped off by 3:30pm and they needed the car back by 8pm that same day. I was like ughhh, I will try my best but I think it will be more like 9pm at the very least. She thought about it and said well ok I have to get it done. I made no guarantees it would be perfect but should look better I told her.
So Thursday comes around and the car is dropped off close to 4:30p. That made me a bit nervous because time was being used up and I really don't like to rush my jobs. It's kind of like trying to bake a cake and have it ready to eat within 20 minutes type of thing.
Between the first meeting and the start of the detail I had a chance to think about what might be needed to correct the hood which was by the way the main concern of the customer. I new rotary work was going to be required but with a very gentle approach. My gentle approach turned out to be rotary with a purple foam wool pad and some M205 followed by D300 on a MF cutting pad. I tried D300 on the G110v2 before anything and nothing really happend. So luckily the product and approach I had been thinking of the night before was the key. By the way I ended up finishing about 9:40pm.
Well, enough rambling and onto the video clip. By the way I've been making the videos for several reasons so I hope you guys don't mind them in that format as compared to individual pictures being uploaded. Thanks for watching.

I would definitely agree with your Jesse!!! That's an awesome turnaround!! I love those 50/50 shots!!! That was an astonishing difference!!! I'm sure that the owners were ecstatic about it!

Also, how in the world were you able to do 2 step with rotary/M205 followed by DA/D300 plus wash and wax in a span of 5 hours?! That's just

    GREAT JOB JESSE!

Thanks a bunch Marc. The owners were really happy. How did I do a 2 step as mentioned above??? I'm asking myself the same question. it would normaly take me at least 8 hrs. The paint is definitely not 100% better but a big improvement. It was mainly the rear bumper and the hood that received the rotary work. Everything else got D300. I completely ran out of time which explains the lack of completion pictures.

        Greatg job!

I hope they gave you a nice tip. They really put you in a though spot with unrealistic expectations. Great save!

That hood was quite an undertaking in limited time besides.

          Very nice.

Awesome job, Jesse! Stellar rotary skills as always. Interesting approach to follow up the rotary work with D300 on the MF pad. Did you use the rotary with that as well, or your D/A?

                GREAT work Jesse!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                Remove swirls my friends.

Thank you. The rear bumper I am almost positive was spray painted with a spray can. I wasn't expecting it to shine up that much.

Thanks John. The hood was pretty weird. After using the rotary I could still see the white spots all over. D300 on the MF cutting pad and D/A helped clean it up. Yet, starting off with D300 did not have much of an impact.

                        Great work Jesse.

It would have been nice if they gave you at least a days notice though.

Just the other week I had a guy call me that wanted to drop off his boat in the late afternoon and wanted a full buff out and interior cleaning done by the evening.

I kindly declined and suggested we set up an appointment in the next few days.

                        Anyways, great work!

Thanks "The Dodge"! I just saw the customers car recently and aside from some swirls the stains have not returned.
