  • First Customer (2009 Audi Q7)

So I've just recently picked up detailing as a hobby and have been cleaning up our family's cars, and I got to chatting with our neighbor who wanted to see if I could get out a scratch on his Audi Q7 last week. I took the Microfiber D/A system to the scratch with moderate to heavy pressure, and the scratch came out with a bit of time and effort. He was absolutely amazed, so impressed that he offered to let me detail his Q7.

    Exterior
    - Washed w/ Meguiars Gold Class
    - Clay Barred w/ Meguiars Smooth Surface Kit
    - Compound/Wax w/ Meguiars Microfiber D/A System
    - Meguiars ScratchX + Ultimate Liquid Wax (Clear Bra)

    Wheels/Tires
    - Meguiars Hot Rims Cleaner
    - Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Dressing

    Interior
    - Meguiars Ultimate Protectant
    - Meguiars Gold Class Leather
    - Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer

The paint was in decent shape, with minimal scratches, but had a ton of swirls and holograms. The swirls and holograms came out rather easily with a few quick passes of the D300 in the Microfiber D/A System.

The front of the car had a clear bra applied, so I had to tape it off and apply ScratchX by hand with a foam applicator pad and then wax with Ultimate Liquid Wax. Everything else received the D300/D301 treatment applied by D/A.

This was my first paid detail, planning to reinvest the money back into buying more detailing supplies.

What was the condition of the bra before you started and did the ScratchX create a change?

The clear bra had a whole bunch of swirl marks in it, and the clear bra on the side mirrors had what seemed to be rain spots/etching. The ScratchX did wonders, basically removing everything with just a few passes by hand. The clear bra is really soft, I was actually going to use Ultimate Compound, before I realized I had something less aggressive in my collection. I'm glad I went with the ScratchX, it was enough.
