  • Lexus IS250 Detailed (Video)

This Saturday I worked on a black Lexus IS250 which had pretty bad water spots. The owner washed his car twice to try and remove the spots but they didn't budge. After the wash I taped a section and clayed it. I went with the MF pads & D300 but it required several passes. I then moved on to M95 on a w-8006 pad and the rotory which after 2 passes did the trick. I was noticing the M95 acting different in certain panels. Turns out there were a few re-painted panels which explains the trouble I was having. A little over 8 1/2 hours for the exterior only. I think I could have used another 5 hours to work on the paint. In the end the car looked a whole lot better.

    Very nice work, Jesse.

Day and night - before and after. Those water spots were very nasty.
    What did you use after M95/ rotary/ W8006 ?

    P.S.: Nice video music.

Thanks Greg, they were nasty to say the least. After M95 I went to D301 on the MF pad.

Wow, that was some nasty water spotting.

This really shows that there is not just one way to fix paint. The MF system is great, but it does not fix every problem. You need a set of tools not just one tool. And as usual....the required test spot.

          Great work Jesse!

Thanks Bob. I totally agree. That test spot took me a while to figure out. That was on the passenger side front fender.

Awesome work as always, Jesse. The paint shines like a mirror!

And I think you even dressed the wheels!

                    Great turnaround Jesse!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                    Remove swirls my friends.

what an amazing save Jesse. Fixing defects of that nature on that black paint really needs a good 15-20 hours IMO, so the fact you got that all done in under 10 hours is impressive.

Repainted panels can REALLY make for a LONG day, especially when you don't know that is what you're dealing with.

Challenging jobs like these can make for a long day, but hopefully in the end you got to take home the professional pay you deserve (I would image a few hundo at least!), as well as knowledge from the learning experience.

Thanks alot Mark . I wasn't expecting the waterspots to be difficult to deal with and like you said a good 15-20 hours could have been useful. It definitely was a long day especially with no lunch or bathroom breaks and only running on a Jack in the Box breakfast. I know I definitely brought back Knowledge from the experience as always.

Thanks Al. I used steel wool with glass cleaner and I followed up with some Mags aluminum polish.
