  • A little NXT at the dragstrip

Here is a picture of my 2003 Mach 1 Mustang at the dragstrip earlier today. A fellow Mustang club member took it while I was staging. I use #80, DC2, and NXT on the exterior. Inside had a fresh coat of #40, Medallion leather cleaner/conditioner, and Gold Class Leather Conditioner. And for those interested in my times, I ran a new best of 13.09 @ 107 with a 2.08 60' on stock tires. Just a little more, and I'd have a 12 second pass!

Nice, the car and the times ! Work on that 60' and you are good to go. I know its hard to get that thing to launch on street tires. I had an 89 with some "stuff" done to it and traction wasnt much more than a fantasy most of the time. ( street tires )
If you dont play you CANT win!

It's a tricky car to launch with a 5 speed. It'll spin to much or bog usually. My typical 60' are 2.1 or 2.2 so I was proud of my 2.0 Maybe next year I'll invest in drag radials or ET Streets.

Good work in both the car and the track. Good luck with getting into the 12's.

          Matt,

Very nice! Sweet 60' times with stock tires. Sounds like the track was in good condition also. Also, car looks fabulous!

Thanks! The track was much better this Saturday than last Saturday, but it was in the low 60's yesterday instead of the upper 40's & low 50's last week. All the club members give me grief about having the cleanest car, but I just tell them it's easy to do with Meguiars

Great looking car. I'm sure you're aware of this, but maybe not. Drop the air pressure in your rear tires to about 20 lbs or so and it'll improve your launch.

I do that & jack the front tires up to 40psi

I figured you'd know about that. Just making sure.

You'd be surprised how many people give me a dumb look when I mention that to them.

I've also removed the front swaybar to allow better weight transfer to the rear of the car.

Yeah, I used to plan my trips to the track so that I had no more than an 1/8th of a tank of gas too. And to heat the tires up, I'd do short burns and avoid the pit. Kept the tires from getting too greasy.
