Well, it seems my detailing "gene" is always looking for something to work on and beings I was a little bored tonight I thought I'd work on our coffee table. Our grandson was running his Matchbox cars around the perimeter last night and really added to the scratches that were already there.
I know that Meg's doesn't endorse there products used in this way and I didn't have any idea of how it would work. If you try this proceed at your own risk and use caution and the knowledge you have from detailing vehicles.
The process used:
Wiped down with Last Touch 1:1
Mild clay
LC blue 6" - M205
Meg's MF system
PC 7424xp
I performed the initial wipe down with Last Touch to clean the surface and then proceeded to clay to remove anything that might have been on the surface. The clay did pick up something, I'm assuming the residue left behind by the Murphy's oil that I used over the weekend.
The table was severely swirled and wasn't expecting to remove everything. My wife likes them to a degree as they add "Character"
Here are some before shots post clay:

I first used M205 on a LC blue as I just didn't know what to expect and didn't want to harm anything and thought that using a pad that didn't have any cut would be perfect and allow the product to do the work. what I did notice is that the 205 dusted really bad.

It did do a decent job of cleaning up the surface, but I couldn't use much pressure as the pad didn't want to oscillate and I didn't want to go above 4
You can see the section that was polished with 205 (middle of the picture)

I then brought out the MF system. Here is after compounding the right side

The gloss really started to come out. Again, there are a lot of swirls and scratches left, but I didn't want to work the surface any harder. If I had some more courage I wanted to bring out M105 but I figured the wrath of momma wouldn't have been worth it if something happened!
Here are the final shots after using the Finishing wax, it really did bring out the gloss. The top looks much darker and richer.

After:

Now I have to figure out how to do the other areas! You can really see the difference in color in between the top and the bull nose edge

This was fun and only took about 20mins to do. Momma is happy and I got to play with my toys! Next will be the stove top....
Thanks for looking.
