  • Demanding client...2007 Ford Edge

Today was the first detail of the season.. a 2007 Ford Edge SEL and the client was the really demanding type....

    It was me!

Wifey's Edge was a mess from the winter... the paint felt like sandpaper, and the interior had needed a good cleaning.

    The Process: Interior

The car was throughly vacuumed, the weather tech mats were put aside and the original mats and vehicle carpeting was cleaned with Folex and extracted with my Bissel LGM.

Interior plastics were cleaned with Meguiar's interior cleaner and a variety of brushes and microfibers, then protected with Meguiar's Natural Shine

Leather was cleaned with and conditioned with Lexol.

Interior glass was cleaned with Stoner's Invisible Glass.

    Exterior

The tires were cleaned with Car Products Maxi White; the wheels were cleaned with
and pressure washed to remove the product.

The paintwork was washed with Meguiar's NXT car wash shampoo via the two bucket method then clayed with Meguiar's mild detailing clay with Meg's #34 final inspection as the lubricant. The car was then rewashed, dried and pulled into the garage.

I decided to go "semi old school" withe the products used.
The polishing process was done with Meguiar's #2 High Tech Cleaner via Rotary with a 3M white foam compounding pad. The tight spots were done with my new Griot's 3 " random orbit polisher and #2. I then used the PC with a Lake Country Cyan pad an went over the paintwork again with #2.

Polishing as done with a Meguiar's polishing pad with #9 High Tech Swirl Remover X 2. The tight spots were done with my new Griot's 3 " random orbit polisher and #9.

LSP was Meguair's #21 Synthetic Sealant applied by hand and topped with Mother's Carnauba wax, also applied by hand.

The plastic trim was protected with PermaShine, the wheels were given a coat of #21 and the tires sprayed with Stoner's More Shine.

Exterior glass was cleaned with Stoner's IG and treated with Rain X.
Exhaust tips were polished with Mother's Chrome Polish

I started at 10:00 AM (I worked at the firehouse the the night of the 17th) and finished at 8:00 PM with only a short break for dinner.

The only pics I have are afters and taken in my garage.

Looks sharp. I'm sure you're glad to put that snow blower away for a few months :-)

I just did a 2010 tri-coat Pearl White Edge for my sister...she has a 1 year old. Enough said.

It came out great...judging by the 6 text messages over the course of 4 days telling me how happy she was

Nice work, your 2007 looks brand new!

Mother in law has a '10 Pearl White Edge, nice vehicle. You can be going 90 mph and not really notice it.... but if you do that in my wife's HHR, you feel like the world is going to end....
