  • Half-detail... ONR test and what I feel about it.

I have read so much about ORN.
I have been wanting one for winter wash...
Since I don't drive on salt often, I did not wash the car as often as it should. I believe, 1 time hand wash (very cold...) and 1 time touch less rinse down. (too lazy...)

The wax was holding up good. I did 3 layers of wax before winter.

It is a half detail, because I just want to clean up the car for the new wheels. They meant something, because they are the frist set of wheels I have ever bought in my life. I was planning to move away from the state side, so last 5 years, I have controlled myself and stayed away from buying a set.

The wheel, I cleaned it with UQD since it is new and waxed them with GC paste wax. Turtle tire dressing and topped with HD 1:2.5

On to the review of ORN.
I was going all out, since it is going to receive a full detail later.
If I am putting swirls, I will get them out later.
It is really dirty and since I am going all out, I decided to just wipe ORN on it. the bottle said 1oz to 2 gallon and thats what i've done.
    It is the new formula.

    Here is the before pictures,

    Something so call Bee poo...
It does not go well with ORN...
Therefore, I end up pressure washing the car first.
Can someone tell me what it is?
It will take 3-5 seconds to blast off with pressure washer.
or if I rub it in my finger, it turns the water into yellow.
And sometime leaves a yellow marks on the paint.

Pollen season, that is why I am only doing a half detail.

    Review:
    1. It is not as clean as normally car wash IMO. Sud cleans the car better over all. However, my car was really dirty that might be the reason.
    2. It is perfect for winter washing. I was washing between 39 to 52F (4-10C) and my hands were not frozen. I cannot tell myself it is too cold to do car wash anymore. I have to keep the car clean in winter as well.
    3. It traps dirt really well. dirt really flies off!!
    4. It smells good.
    5. If it is for weekly maintain the car. ORN is perfect. But if you use it to clean every 4 months. I think it will get the job done, but not close to any MOL standards.
    6. Swirl marks? Didn't check yet. The sun finally came out, but it is already full of pollen again.
    7. It does well on plastic trim. It leaves almost a dressed finish on most trims.
    8. It does not work well with Bee poo (unknown substance)

    After pictures.

Quick engine wipe down, without dressing.

It shines really ok. Trims are not dressed as well.
ORN is really great on trims.
It is still with winter wheels.

    Overall

All trims dressed with HD 1:2.5
See there are the new wheels.

    ET 35

They are nice IMO, 16x7J with Sp sport Maxx TT

    From the back

The car needs to be clayed. It still have some stains here and there.
However, I really think it shines ok.
I really believe it will be a quick maintain car wash.

I really like HD on trims.

This is all I have about ORN.
I like it and I will use it again.
I got 1 gallon to try out because I believe I will like it. And I do.
Ordered from England online alone with APC and HD.
SINCE I CANNOT GET THEM FROM AUSTRIA...
It always bugs me about that, since I can get all Meguiars stuff back in the state...

    Comments are welcome.

If you are referring to Optimum no rinse, I have some opinions. First, since it doesn't require a rinse, you can wash a car rather quickly. This, however, is only good on cars (IMO) that are not really dirty.

Second, it does a first-class job on windows.

i know you said it was your opinion about how dirty a car can or can not be when using ONR but here is a thread from another forum and i would have to say this car was very very dirty. i just wanted to let people know ONR can be used on car with more than just a dusting on it which is what it seems alot of people think.

I totally agrees. It depends on what kinds of dirt tho.
The bee poo is for sure not going away.
What the hack is that anyway??

I will have to try again when there is winter.
I believe when I pitch ONR against road salt, it would be fine.
Again, I am impress with the result of being negecting my car for couple months in winter (my own mistakes!)
Overall it is good for what it is!
I still see some deep stains, it might be bonded to the wax or the clear a bit. If this is the case, even normally washing is not going to remove them.

MAINTAINING is the MOST IMPORTANT part of detailing!!

            X2

ONR is my winter sanity saver. I've cleaned my car when it is as dirty as the car in the post you mention on AG. I presoak the vehicle using a one gallon garden sprayer and then just take my time and go slow. I use Sam's Club MF "towels" folded into quarters and just keep flipping and rinsing them. I swap out the dirty for clean and end up using 5-6 to wash and 2-3 WW MF towels to dry.

I personally do not like ONR for windows. I will clean them with ONR, but go over them again with glass cleaner. I'm not sure if it's the Rain-X , Rain-x wiper blades, my choice of washer fluid or what, but I find it leaves a film that takes a bit of time to "flash" over in the winter time. If I'm stopped at an intersection it's no big deal, but while driving...YIKES> Of course, YMMV.
