  • MQM Detailing: Porsche 911 Turbo (Revisited)

I have gotten the opportunity to do a simply wash and interior cleaning on this vehicle just about every week for the past year now. I finally had did a full detail on it! I could tell it's been buffed before. It wasn't until this past winter it needed to be fully detailed. The owner has taken it through Mike's Car Wash a few times I believe, so I had to correct a bit of paint.

    Process:

    Wash (UW&W)
    3M Painters Tape
M205 (By DA + Yellow Polishing Pad)
    M07 (By Hand)
    M26 (By Hand)

I topped it with the new version of Gold Class. I haven't had the opportunity to use it on a darker colored car. I am very happy with the results. I obviously would have used the new Ultimate Wax if I had it at the time. I am going to follow up and probably apply a coat of it for him. For the final touch I used Griot's Speed Shine.

Didn't bother taking any interior shots, but I swept it out and used Quik Interior Detailer on the surfaces. As for the windows I used Gold Class Concentrate and UQW.

    AFTER:

Although the paint was already in decent condition, it was very easy to work with. I never needed more than two passes with 205. The hood and front bumper has a custom protective film on it so I could only use M07 and my waxes on it. As for the rest I was able to buff. I also cleaned up the exhaust tips, they had the usual grime from condensation and such. The owner told me that one time a detailer buffed right through his protective film with a rotary and he had to have it redone! Yikes, that would have been bad.

For the winter he put his OEM wheels back on. Being a typical spring day it was raining, or I would have loved to take it outside for some shots, maybe this weekend!

Beautiful job. I love Porsche paint, I found it to be relatively soft but easy to work with, very forgiving. Did it seem to correct really easy? I did a Porsche Carrera, Dark Met. Blue, A few passes with my DA and a LC Green pad and some swirl remover corrected the clear is seconds. The whole car didn't take me long to do.
