  • 1998 Mustang GT - Spring Detail

I cleaned up my car for the first time this year. She sits in the garage over the winter w/ just comprehensive insurance. I compounded and polished the paint using Pinnacle XMT products a couple years ago and I never drive it in the rain, use good wash techniques, etc... so the paint is still in relatively good shape.

I decided this time to use good ol' megs #7 topped with megs #26. I haven't used this combo in quite some time, and I kind of forgot how great it looks. I also used some M105/205 to clean up my headlights as they were kind of yellow.

    Before (after an ONR wash):

In the next pic, you'll see my 21 month old son helping wash the rear 1/4... not even 2 years old and he knows to rub the sponge on the grit guard first

      It looks very nice.

M07 and M26 can really refresh your paint.

How much credit for this project should go to your helper: 90%, 95% ?

Not anymore there isn't nice weather last week in the 50's along with rain all weekend pretty much washed all of the snow away... thank goodness! I can't wait for a warm sunny day to go out for a drive. I've also got some new cams coming in the mail that I can't wait to install

he's a great kid and he loves cars. Anytime he see's a nice car he points and says "car" and when we're outside all he wants to do is open the door, climb in, and play withthe steering wheel, shifter, e-brake, and turn signal levers...

It's been a while since I've used the #7 and #26, as I was hooked to AGHD last summer but it really does work quite well. I also noticed that both were incredibly easy to apply in the 50* spring weather, as opposed to trying to apply on a humid 80* day.

They were applied in my garage out of the sun of course, but still the cool dry air really made application and removal quite easy.

My wife got me bottles of M105, 205, a few new pads, a big bottle of ONR, and a wheel brush from detailed image for Christmas. I'm completely in love with all of these new products. I corrected the paint on the Mustang a couple years ago using Pinnacle XMT products, LC orange, white, and black pads, and my PC (Pinnacle products created TONS of dust). So far I've used the 105/205 to clean up my headlights and corrected a small section of the paint on my DD, and I am sold. This stuff is great and I probably won't use my Pinnacle stuff for a long time.

Your 'Stang looks fantastic, and it must be nice to have a helper, even if he can't quite reach the roof. Or the hood. Or trunk. Or windows! But geez, it looks c-c-c-c-cold out there!!

Great job and those wheels look absolutely fantastic on your car! Awesome eye and great choice.

That's still my second favorite body-style for the mustangs.

Now that is one nice SN95! The FR500's look perfect on it. #7 and 26 is indeed a great combo.

I'll have to try 7+26, looks great! I'm pretty envious of your 50* sun- it'll be all the way up to 98* on Friday here :-(

This is my second year in AZ and I've gotta say, I really miss the Texas heat- much less horrid!

That would put a lot of S95's in my town to shame, so darn clean!

Your a trooper for getting out there with snow on the ground.
