  • My MR2 with NXT2.0

    Hi guys

Just a few (poor) pics i had forgotten how good NXT2.0 was. Washed the 16yr old car yesterday with Ultimate Shampoo and gave her 2 coats of NXT2.0 by hand very impressed. Excuse the poor pics but the weather turned just as i finished.

Looks very nicely cared for Rob. Great job!! I've never seen the rear emblem your car displays. Are you outside the U.S.?

Wish my neighbor would take as much pride in his Red Turbo. Makes me cringe every time I look at it, while he keeps his old, funky boat and jet-skis in the garage. Poor thing is now so faded and oxidized it appears only thing to do would be a repaint.

      Thanks Glenn,

Yes, I am in the UK. The red is renowned for fading over the years, it was improved slightly on later models Rev4 1997 onwards and called Super Red II, but i 'think' they had stopped selling MR2s in the US by then.

Your neighbours is probably a 2.2 turbo, the Japanese home market were 2.0 litre the same as mine but turbo charged to around 245hp. The faded red can be improved dramatically with a Porter Cable DA and Megs 80

Wish mine was Red to be honest

Yes, they had stopped importing here prior to '96. Now you've got me thinking, maybe I'll offer to try my PC and some Megs 83 I already have in hand to see just how bad it really is. He works at a dealership, so would think he would have access to some "help", but can't hurt to ask.
Personally I love red cars, but white is so much easier to take care of, especially here in the Sacramento (HOT Blazing Sun) valley.
        Love your Mister2!!

That is one seriously bright white car!!! It looks fantastic, and it's nice to see someone keeping a car looking this good for so long.

            Nicely done, Rob.

Your car looks great and it's really well protected.

              Thanks Guys,

It came up really well, i had used my DA and #80 a couple of weeks ago, but the NXT really worked wonders, was singing its praises at work today. I'll try to get some better pics in sunlight when i can.

Hoping to get to a Thursday evening class in Irvine in Aug too if i can work into my vacation

Great looking Toyota, superb job, not a swirl to be seen, you should show it at Castle Combe Jap Fest, with one of the clubs !

There isn't a 2.2 turbo engine. The 5SFE which is a NA camry engine is 2.2l, the only turbo engine used in the SW20 was the 3SGTE, a 2.0l engine, and yours is a 3SGE.

Nice MR2 though, I wish mine had paint like yours!

Ah…….thanks for putting me right on that buddy. I’ve only seen one once at the Toyota dealer in Lawton Oklahoma, I think in 1992!

Friend of mine has just had a US spec Camry 3.0 V6 fitted in his UK spec car to replace the 3SGE engine, goes really well now, lovely smooth take up compared to a turbo.

I just need to get my squeaky clutch sorted out.

I’m going to give the car another coat of NXT tonight if the weather stays good. You will have to post a few pics of your 2.

Thanks Woody, white and NXT's filling abilities help to hide alot....loving the colour of your RAV as well.
