NXT Garage Clinic- Feb. 12, 2005
Today was our monthly garage clinic held by my MINI club (c3) aka Cooper Club for Charities. We had an excellent turnout, and the sun came out just for us! How fortunate was that? Considering it was raining pretty hard yesterday! An even greater surprise was that Mike Phillips stopped by to help out and attend my clinic! What a surprise and treat that was. My mentor and good buddy participating in MY clinic!! Wow.

This month we had 15 MINI's which was a bit lower than last month, but to be expected considering it was still raining in many parts of LA that people were coming in from. We had lots of sunshine, doughnuts & coffee for breakfast, cookies, chips, pizzas, salad, and a Valentines Day/birthday cake! We had 3 new participants and a good mix of 2002- 2005 MINI's!

    Featured Products:
    NXT Tech Wax
    NXT Spray Wax
    ScratchX
    Quick Clay Detailing System
    NXT Car Wash
    Quik Detailer

    Food for Thought

One of our members, Charles Engen was very kind to bring us doughnuts!

    MINI's and More MINI's!!

15 MINI's came to our clinic today.

    Rain and Sun Protection

Because the weatherman said to expect light morning showers, we set up a 15'x20' tent provided by Matthew Hong. It must have been over an hour to set this up, and instead of rain, we got sunshine!

Everyone Celebrating after Erecting the Tent!

    Hazards Everywhere!

While the sun was being nice to us, these birds overheard made us thankful for our shelter!

    Valentines Day Weekend

    Can't forget the cookies either!

    NXT Detailing and Vinyl Clinic???

We like variety and offering more than just detailing for our participants. We also do custom vinyl!

    A Little Pep Talk

Each month we do this clinic, we become a little more organized. We had some club meeting details to cover first before getting to the fun detailing! That's me, Richard (OctaneGuy) commanding the stage. LOL, as Mike looks on.

NXT Paste Tech Wax: Demo #1

We give priority detailing to those that didn't get their cars worked on last month and also to all first timers to our meeting. This is Shawn's immaculate 2005 MCS. The car was already prewashed, so we just used Quik Detailer and the new NXT Paste Tech Wax.

    Nice even coats were applied.

The paste wax was hand applied and removed.

    And All Finished!!

    What a great looking MINI!

    MINI Production Line

We were able to work on 4 cars at a time by pulling one into the garage, and 2 were in the shade while a 4th was being washed. You can see Lil'Octane all ready for cleaning! James and I drove to Las Vegas and back earlier in the week for a meeting, so Lil'Octane had plenty of bug guts and brake dust to clean off! The new NXT Glass Cleaner worked perfectly for the glass!

Maren came back for her second clinic

This was his second clinic with us.

    Clay Bar- The Magic Eraser

Shawna had this scuff on her bumper.

With a little bit of Clay and Quik Detailer to lubricate it, it was completely restored!

    Everyone got name tags!

    Even my son!

Keith Privratsky's Washing with NXT Car Wash

Keith brought this pre-owned Pure Silver MCS. The paint was in decent condition, but it was rough to the touch, so we clay barred the whole car.

    Look at that clay!

All kinds of junk was removed from the paint! From a distance, the Pure Silver paint hid the problems well, but a light touching showed that it was rough to the touch! We completely restored the finish and made it glassy smooth again!

Keith's Trim Was in Bad Shape

Meguiar's Plastic Trim Detailer restored the deep rich black again! NXT Insane Shine made the tires look new!

      Clover Cutting the Cake!

Nobody wanted to stop working to break for lunch, so we ate and worked! We also had to get the cake cut so we could sing Happy Birthday to Mike!!

Bob Winer's Scratch and Swirl Removal- Demo #2

This was Bob Winer's first clinic with me, although I've attended clinics with him at Meguiars. His MCS was in pretty bad shape especially considering he had spent a lot of money having the car repainted. Swirls were evident everywhere, so Mike Phillips made his car into a demo and used #80 with the PCDA, ScratchX by hand, and finished with NXT Tech Wax for an absolutely 100% improvement!

Look at that shine!! The bonnet was completely 100% improved!

All in all, it was an incredible day of hanging out with old friends, teaching proper car care techniques, introducing the full line of Meguiar's products, eating great food, and playing with so many MINI's!!

Thank you everyone for your participation and especially to Meguiar's and Mike Phillips for allowing us to make our fourth NXT garage detailing clinic the best yet!

          Another Wicked Clinic!

Thanks to Richard for putting on another wonderful day of detailing. And special thanks to Mike for coming and showing us how it's done! That scratch removal demo was truly impressive.

Persons in attendance may be wondering if I'm going to mention my exhaust tips. Why yes...I am. I finally got a chance to bring out the shine in my Borla exhaust tips with an easy application of NXT All Metal Polysh, The Quik Detailer/NXT Tech Wax/NXT Glass Cleaner combination did its usual magic, my tires are now Insanely Shiny, and new to my car was a once-over with the new Quik Interior Detailer, which left everything looking way clean (including a few surfaces that I'm pretty sure haven't seen cleaning for the life of my car).

I'm glad that I could make it, despite the (unfounded) threat of rain, and get my car caught in so many pics!

The event was super. It was actually handy to have the canopy even though it didn't rain. And many thanks to Mike Phillips for stopping by. His demos were quite impressive. We had Meguiar's products everywhere doing everthing. The trim work and metal work (like Eric mentioned) was really a bonus. There were some fine looking MINI's by the end of the day. Thanks to Meguiar's for there great line of products and for Mike coming to the event.

Gotta know what kind of backing plate is that on the G-100?

Looks like the event was a BLAST!

Nice work and write up. I'm sure the pics took a while to upload too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I believe that was Mike's PCDA so I'll let him answer that question. I have a Sonus on my PCDA, but I know that's not the same here.

We definitely had a blast!! This will be our last detailing event for a couple months now as we prepare for a major event in March in Las Vegas. But we'll be back again!! Thanks for your nice words.

Many thanks to Mike Phillips for his generous and tireless devotion to showing us how to properly detail our beloved MINIs! The Meguiar's products are so easy to use and produce amazing results!

Next time, I PROMISE to have my Wanda get in on the detailing! LOL! I wanted to let the newbies have the wonderful experience of working with Mike and our fearless and talented leader, Richard.

Learning the tricks of the detailing trade was invaluable! It was a 500% improvement in the exterior condition on my pre-owned MINI. I had a great time, and learned how Meguiars products can make a car really stand out in a crowd. Mike is one amazing and dedicated guy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

                      MINI Crazy people

Thank you Mike for spending your birthday with c3 (Cooper Club for Charities). What an informative day. Mike you made it fun to learn how to take care of our MINI's and the hands on experience at the clinic was invaluable. We all can now go home and feel confident that we know how to use the Meguiar's products and keep our MINI's looking great!

I have used Meguiar's products in the past and I must say I am crazy about all the NXT generation products!
Just ask Erik how great his pipes look after using the NXT All Metal Polysh. Toshi and I think that the NXT Insane Shine tire spray is just that Insane!

Thanks again Mike from your MINI Crazy friends!

                        So much to learn

I had a wonderful time at Richards Garage Party last weekend. Not only do we get to meet so many great people, clean our MINI's for a great cause but with so many Meguiars products I learn something new evey time! I thought the demonstration that Mike did on Bob's MINI was amazing. I stayed around to watch and was WAY late for my dinner plans but it was well worth it. Thanks to Mike for coming out on his Birthday for our MINI party.

Actually, I'm not sure whose G100 that is in the picture, mine has a Meguiar's backing plate on it. As I moved around and worked on different cars, I just used the nearest dual action polisher in the area.

                            Sorry Mike,

after looking at those pix again, that obviously wasn't you wearing jeans.

That was Toshi's G100a with a Ferro backing plate.

The club has 2 PCDA's and several of our members bring their own, so we normally have on hand around 4 to 5 PCDA's at the clinics! Not bad considering we only had my own PCDA when I first started doing these clinics!

Looks like a fantastic day OctaneGuy. I'll have to time my next visit to LA with one of your get togethers and pop along.

What do you think is the most popular colour for the Cooper S in LA. Over here the majority appear to be 'Dark Silver' or 'Electric Blue'.
