  • 2001 Volvo C70

    2001 Volvo C70, 63k miles.

I did this car back in December of 09 and the client recently contacted me again in hopes that I would be able to service it again.

Client told me that she tried one other "Quick" detail shop but felt my service was more "detailed & superior"

This was a premium interior detail and a basic exterior job. The car is in really clean shape and the paint is in very good shape for being a ten year old vehicle which is quite rare. A few scrapes and chips on the front bumper which is hardly nothing for a ten year old daily driven vehicle.

I love the color of this vehicle as well.

    Befores:

The body of the car was foamed with 5oz of 3D Wash & Wax & a few oz of Super Soap.

Wheels, tires, wells, & engine were prepped with All Purpose Cleaner & Wheel Brightener.

Lower panels were all sprayed down with Body Solvent.

Wash media consisted of Meguiars wash mitts, yellow bone & bug sponges, as well as various brushes.

After the wash, the paint was clayed while wet with ONR at clay lube ratio and dried clean with Water Magnets.

Trunk was vacummed & all jambs were wiped clean with ONR at QD dilution.

Engine compartment was cleaned during the wash, then dressed with Hyper-Dressing at 2:1.

Not a "clean in every crevice" type job but what time allowed.

Spent five minutes reading the manual to figure out how to work the top.
Car must be running, E-brake on, plus vehicle in park.

    Raised it halfway,

    The grime:

Cleaned up with ONR, brushes, & towels.

    Seals cleaned/conditoned with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner and a terry cloth.

Pulled all the mats from inside the car.

All hard surfaces & leather were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner & dressed with Quik Interior Detailer.

cracks & crevices brushed and cleaned out.

All carpet was dry brushed & vac'd. Spot treatments were handled with All Purpose Cleaner & a brush.

Before the car was waxed/sealed there were a few spots on the painted undersides that needed a Tarminator application & additional clay.

Exhaust pipes were given a steel wool rubbing & a Hot Rims Chrome Polish application with a terry cloth.

The car was waxed/sealed with HD Poxy.

All tires, trim, & wheelwells were dressed with All Season Dressing.

Glass was cleaned inside & out with Glass Cleaner Concentrate 10:1.

Fantastic clean up Nick. I guess the client figured out you get what you pay for.

Nice Work Nick! The Car Looks Great. I feel your pain when you are trying to figure out how to get the dang top down hah

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
      Remove swirls my friends.

Fantastic work again! The client knows who's good. That silver was really popping at the end.

            Great job Nick.

            I got two questions though?
Aren't you glad the snow is gone?

What is the "W" button for?

              Thanks all!

              Paul,

I have had 20-30 people tell me I would be servicing their vehicles once the weather warms and all the snow is gone. Although some just like to "talk"

But yes, it is a bit nicer without the snow.

As for W, I believe it stands for Weather or Winter????

              Not sure really.

Correct Nick, the "W" stands for winter and essentially what it does is start the car in second gear instead of first gear.

                  Nice work BTW.

Nice work on the C70! One of my favorite cars! I live about one hour away from the factory where they built C70.

Which products did you use for the paint?

Nick, Do you have certain towels/microfibers for certain parts of the vehicle? Such as paint, wheel only, junk rags for the engine bay, etc? How long do you typically use a microfiber/rag/towel before you throw it away?

                            Just been wondering. Thanks.

Edit- Also do you ever use a water filter to prevent water spots?
