Last weekend, I was able to detail my mother’s in law car. I had the usual swirls marks but few deep scratches. Overall, the paint was dull from oxidation. And the worst part she always use dish soap to wash her car. What a crime! However, I was able to convince her to use car wash soap…Meguiars of course!
Here are some of the products I used.
    Deep Crystal Car Wash

    Quik Clay System

    #80 Speed Glaze

    #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish

    NXT Generation Tech Wax

Gold Class Leather Cleaner & Conditioner

First I cleaned the interior dash and carpet from soda spills, etc. with simple green. The leather seats were cracked and hard. However, I decided to use Meg leather cleaner and conditioner to at least make them look clean and softer. I decided to let the product sit while I was detailing the exterior (4 hours).

After totally washing her car with DCCW, I clayed the car with QCS while wet. It was very bad that I could hear the roughness with every stroke. After half of the roof, the clay bar was totally dark brown. The hood and the trunk was pretty much the same. The rest of the vertical panels were not as bad. After that, I proceeded to rinse the car again dry it.

I took out my PC with #80 and proceeded to polish a test area but no luck. So, I grab the #83 and I got a much better results. Then I did the entire car with #83 following with #80 and NTX.
Because I was running out of time, I left alone the deeper scratches. Besides, it is a light color car so they are not as obvious. Once done, I went back to the leather seats and wipe off the excess product and to my amaze the leather became softer. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the interior and dress up the tires.
    Here are some pictures.

    Reflection of my shoes.

PS. It seems that this particular color does not reflect directly like black. However, it does better in an angle. Thanks to MOL I became her favorite son in-law.

Looks good. Now she will be washing the car with car wash and not dish soap which will harm the paint system, which caused some of the oxidation.

Thank you guys for your kind words. Because that day was cloudy, it worked to me because I don't have an enclose garge. But it was hard to see the paint defects. I know that there are still some defects but it is good for me for now. I knew that I couldn't bring a really neglected paint to look new in one shot to be realistic. But I am happy with the results... my mother in-law too so that is good to me.
