  • 2001 Toyota Tundra + Headlight Restoration

This Toyota Tundra is a work truck that I detailed last week. While it doesn’t appear to be too dirty in the pictures, they don’t serve it any justice. The car was filthy on the exterior, especially the bed (forgot to snap pics), and wheel wells. The owner wanted to have the truck cleaned up and give a little life and protection to the paint, but didn’t want a full blown detail since it was still a work truck. Here was my process.

Wheels – Multi-Piece Wheel Cleaner as they were polished aluminum

Tires – APC+ with foaming Sprayer, Dressed with Hot Shine Gel

Wheel Wells – APC+ with foaming Sprayer, Dressed with Hyper Dressing

Bed- APC+ with foaming sprayer, Dressed with Hyper Dressing

Wash – Hyper Wash + an ounce of ONR

Clay- Mild Blue Clay – This was by far the dirtiest truck I have ever seen in my life when it came to claying. The picture of the clay I have is from doing about 1/8th of the hood. I literally had to do about 7 passes of claying the hood and roof, as they were so incredibly dirty. (Guess this is what you get with a work truck that is never washed or taken care of)

Polish - D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream
    Wax -M20

All exterior Plastics Dressed with Hyper Dressing

Windows – D Line window cleaner

Interior – vacuumed the interior, a light pass of quick interior detailer and windows with D Line Window Cleaner.

    Headlight Restoration:

    Process:

Taped off the Headlights and Sanded with 1500 Grit Unigrit Paper with foam hand sanding pad

Polished with M85 on 4 inch Wool Pad on Drill

Polished with PlastX on 4 inch Polishing Pad on Drill

    Sealed with NXT 2.0

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.
