  • 2010 BMW x5 4.8

    2010 BMW X5, 10k miles.

    Belongs to the client's wife.

Client wanted a basic mid winter detail.

I do like this car a lot.

    Befores:

The wheels, tires, and wells were cleaned/degreased with:

    Wheel Brightener
    Super Degreaser
    All Purpose Cleaner
    Deep Crystal Car Wash

The inner part of the wheel came close to 100% clean.

Foam gun and various brushes used to clean as usual.

The truck was foamed and washed using my Gilmour foam gun with:

    Shampoo Plus - 3oz.
    Super Soap - 3oz.
    3D Wash & Wax - 2oz
    ONR - 2oz.

The body was washed by hand with several different wash mitts.

Rinsed then dried with Water Magnets.

All door and trunk jambs plus the engine bay were wiped down with Last Touch Spray Detailer.

The interior was in very clean shape to begin with.

All Purpose Cleaner was used to spot treat stains in the carpet & leather, then every inch of the interior was cleaned/dressed with Quik Interior Detailer.

The carpet and mats were dry brushed and vacummed.

3D Carpet Shampoo and a Meguiars yellow sponge were used to shampoo and recondition the salty driver & passenger side mats. Extracted with a shop vac and dried with cotton towels, and left to dry until 100%.

All glass was cleaned inside and out with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1 and a terry towel.

All crevices and vents were brushed out with a paint brush as well.

The exterior was clayed with Detailing Clay (Mild) and Last Touch Spray Detailer at 1:1.

I did a one step with #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) /PC/ LC 5.5" green. I followed that with a hand application of HD Poxy.

    Tires/wells - #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner x3.
Wheels sealed with Synthetic X - Press Spray Wax.
Exhaust recieved steel wool & HD Poxy.

Finished this one very late so pics are not the best but just okay.

Wow! That paint really pops. Great job yet again.

What do you think of the 3D products you used? I've wondered about their products?

And what is that HD Poxy? It really added some shine to the paint.

Winter doesn't slow you down at all, Nick.

Great job on X5. Nice wet paint surface.

As a BMW owner I know how much break dust (especially front) those wheels build.

          Thank you.

I've wondered about their products as well.

So for Christmas I treated myself to:

          3D Carpet Shampoo
          3D Bug Remover
          3D Wash & Wax
          HD UNO
          HD Poxy
          3D Waterless Car Wash

The carpet shampoo smells nice and does a pretty good job, I bought this because I wanted a product that was dedicated for cleaning carpets & upholstery.

I wish I got a before and after pic of the drivers side mat. It looked really good after and was very very salty before.

When I was there this past week I did three vehicles but only used it on this one, so I need to use it more before it becomes a permanent part of my lineup.

I like the Wash & Wax, foams really good and leaves behind a good finish. I have only used it for six washes so far though.

As for HD Poxy, I like the look, smell and application.

Easy to remove but it needs decent drying time.

          Does not stain trim either.

I believe its a sealant that also has some wax in it? I could be wrong.

I have only used it three times so far.

I have not tried the rest of the products I purchased yet.

I do get a little slow in the winter but I have jobs lined up and ready to go in the winter.

Yes, the insides of those wheels were pure black. The face of the wheel only takes a day or two until a light film builds up.

I have also been curious about HD products. Keep us informed Nick on your findings. I am interested in results (long term) of the HD Poxy. Question: did you invest in the HD pads? Interesting how they have the black backing to prevent total product absorption into the entire pad.

How did the 3D carpet shampoo fair against other items such as APC and APC Plus or other products? I am always looking for ways to improve results and reduce time spent on doing interiors. (I know we're talking 2 different products here)
BTW, I ordered a new item to remove pet hair that I am going to try. The last two customer vehicles I did were LOADED with hair and it killed me timewise on the interior. I will let you know what I find out about it. (small, light weight and relatively inexpessive)

Anyway, would like to know what you think of the 3D and HD products.

I will keep you updated since I have yet to use them long term and have not even used all of the products I ordered yet.

I did not get the pads at all.

As for the carpet shampoo, I have only used it one time so far on the salty mats and was impressed with how it performed.

I did not expect the drivers mat to look brand new again, I wish I snapped a before/after shot but I get into my work too much and do not focus on the picture taking and end up with "okay" before/after shots.

I did however get a before and after of the passenger side mat in the writeup.

I need to use the product more before giving a final judgement.

Although I think it is only ever so slightly better than APC.

I will keep you all updated with future threads, posts, and writeups.
