Is that photo from the LA Auto Show?
I always found it funny how so many of the exotics and high end domestics are loaded with swirls and scratches in the finish at an auto show. You think they would get someone to clean them up before a show. Then again, maybe they are advertising how when you buy the $150,000 Ford Gt + 200,000 delivery charge, they give you free swirls in the finish.
Where these included in the new Ford Recall? Then again, who used cruise control on one of these.
While watching NBC Sport's coverage of the Detroit show last weekend (special one-hour show devoted to the show -- it was excellent), I noticed, on more than two shots, there were guys scurrying around in the background detailing the vehicles.
Naturally, they weren't lugging rotaries and DA's around but, I saw a Cal. Duster and another guy with, what appeared to be, a MF towel and a spray bottle.
Undoubtedly, the manufacturers spend top dollar making sure that their product is displayed properly. Now, if I can just figure out how to get a gig up there on the floor....
Oh yes... Lt1Corvette, I believe the GT has already had a recall... it was on the upper and lower suspension arm on the front end. Some type of casting problem. Definately not a good thing for Ford to worry with after unleashing that beast.
I love the new Ford GT. In fact allegedly one of my dad's friend's buddy and him bought one, although I'm yet to see it. MSRP on them is something to the order of $150,000 but they're all fetching more like a quarter million! If you look on Ford's web site they actually have some really cool commercials they can stream to you.
And reguarding how those cars always have swirls in them, my local sales guy had Meguiar's bring him up to Vegas for this past years SEMA show to just shine up all the new Mustangs they had there. He and his group of experienced professionals were told that the cars were all in great shape and only need cleaned up, but apparently when they got there they ended up having to rotary buff most of them to get them to look good for the show and then ended up having to stay there in to the early morning hours to get them all done in time. So yeah, we obviously have different standards.
Later,
Ricky
