So now it's time for me to write my story into the book of 2010 Camaro details on this forum (I've seen a lot lately). So here goes.
This was a basic winter prep detail that I did on my good friend's 2010 Camaro SS before he goes to pack her away in the garage for the Texas winter. I said there was a twist to this detail, which is where I'll start.
Two days ago, my Mazda Millenia's engine gave me the biggest headache of them all when it refused to start at all. It'd been misfiring HORRIBLY for awhile and I thought it'd bitten the dust on me (and it's about there), but anyways, I put a message on my Facebook profile asking if anyone had a spare car I could use for the night, since I had to go to work later, and neither of my family's cars were available to me. About 5 mins after I posted it, I got a response from my college friend, saying that I could use his Camaro for the night, if I promised to detail it in return. He said that he trusted me enough with his baby and that was a RARE thing for him to do. A bit of a fair deal in my mind...an afternoon and a half of detailing, in exchange for driving a $40K+ SS for the night? I WAS SO THERE! So at around 3 PM that day, my mom drove me to the school, and I picked up my friend's Camaro, and he had a friend take him home. I brought the car home, and figured I had enough time for just the exterior to start with.
Here's a couple of before pics:
The outside was in AMAZING shape!

The interior, though, needed a bit more attention.

The car was in FANTASTIC shape, and as far as the paint and body was concerned, it felt like it had recently been clayed, so I didn't worry about that too much. First off, I washed the entire car with a pressure washer, and then soaped it up with Gold Class Car Wash: Shampoo/ Conditioner, rinsed, and dried it off with a few of my new Water Magnets. I then pulled the car in the garage, under the lights to inspect for swirls and other defects. To my amazement, there wasn't a single swirl or scratch to be found ANYWHERE on this car, which was a complete shock to me, as I would have expected SOMETHING, wouldn't you?

Once I got the car dried off, and nice and prepped, I masked off the matte black stripes, window trim, and all the things that weren't getting waxed, and using my $45 10" Rockford Polisher and a few terry cloth bonnets, I layed down 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax 2.0 (in 1 hour successions).
By the time I was done, I had to leave for work, but I snapped a quick pic of the finish after the 2 coats of NXT.

Day 2 arrived, and the time of return for this car was set at 3 PM sharp. So I did my regular "going-to-school" routine, and then came back, and immediately got to work on the interior. The first thing I did was pressure wash the Weather Tech floor mats, and then, with a thick, stiff bristled brush, I scrubbed them down with Tuff Stuff Cleaner and the results were pretty impressive.

I then dressed the plastics on the dash and doors with Quik Interior Detailer Wipes, and Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/ Conditioner (Lotion) for the Jet Black leather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The bright silver interior door panels were sealed with a small coat of NXT Tech Wax 2.0 (a little tip I took from Tuck91
) and I got a pretty slick result (no pun intended, lol). I then vacuumed out the rest of the interior and trunk with my RIGID Shop Vac.
I then moved back to the exterior again for some final touch ups, with about 1 1/2 hours to go. I washed the wheels, tires, and wells, with Deep Crystal Car Wash, and sealed the matte black wheels with a little Cleaner Wax for good measure. I didn't put any tire gel on the tires, simply because my friend had requested that I not. I then cleaned all the glass with Eagle One 20/20 Glass Cleaner, and wiped down the engine with a bit of UQD for a little shine (even though my friend really doesn't care how it looks under there). Once I had given the car my thumbs up, and my mom even had a good look at it, and approved it, I knew I was done, and boy was I happy with it.
Feast your eyes on this bad mother!

Hope you all enjoyed reading my story, and I will let you know that my friend was EXTREMELY impressed with how the car turned out, and he did say that my prices were fair for the quote I gave him to put him on my paint maintenance program, and he told me he'd call me after winter to come do it again, and that I will certainly be recommended to his friends.
