  • NHRA - 1954 Dodge "SAFETY SAFARI" rig shined!

Recently we polished a replica of the original 1954 Dodge wagon and camper that was used during the early years of the NHRA.

Here is a picture of the original -

If you visit the NHRA museum in Pomona California you will find the rig parked outside just right of the main entrance.

We found the classic dirty, swirly and lightly oxidized.

Here is a side by side pic of a freshly polished area and the oxidized.

After testing a few products in my arsenal I chose Meguiars #86 with a w5000 wool pad to restore the finish. Here you can see the finish is obviously single stage.

After the rotary work was done I chased it with #86 with a W8207 on my G110v2.

        Joe-

I am BEYOND HAPPY that you were chosen to polish that beauty.

It's nice to know that the guys at the museum know talent when they see it. I attend a couple of nostalgia drag racing events every year (The March Meet and the Hot Rod Reunion both at Famoso Raceway just outside Bakersfield). Somebody's got to keep these cars looking great. Nice job!!!

I dig the fact that you don't buy in to the "old-style compounds for single stage paint" theory. Loving the M86!!!
