Before I start in on the latest detail I want to publicly thank Nick aka Tuck91. I have PM'd Nick several times and he is always helpful and encouraging with his responses to me. More details below. On this past weekend though, he really saved the day for me. Thank you Nick, great save.
Yesterday I finished a correction on my neighbor's 2009 Toyota Highlander. It is a daily driver and has seen 30,000 miles of expressway driving in it's first year. I started with a two bucket w/grit gard wash using Dawn. Clay barred the entire vehicle including glass using some of Mom's clay (I'm using it up, though I'm not impressed with it....) I used ONR @ detail spray ratio for clay bar lube. Wheel wells, tires and engine bay were cleaned with APC and a variety of brushes. At first due to a cloudy day I thought I had an easy correction. I pulled it into the garage, turned on the spotlight and said some not so nice words.

I started with an orange CCS pad and M205. The pad immediately junked up. My first thought was I had a vehicle with single stage paint. I cleaned the pad on the fly with a MF towel and it decided it was time to delaminate from the velcro. I PM'd Nick (Tuck91) and he told me about Advance Auto having M205 and older Meguiar's Soft Buff pads on clearance.
He saved the day for me. Silly me didn't read the pad packaging though...rotary, not DA, DOH! I still kept the M205 since I was a bit low on M205. I had brought along some PB polish. I tried it side by side with M205 and dropped it back in my kit bag. The aforementioned pad junking up continued over the entire vehicle. I'm not sure what it was that was coming off, but after clay AND Dawn it should have been stripped clean. The pads w/M105 showed all of the gunk, the pads w/M205 were normal.
I ended up using M105 on a white CCS pad for 2 passes followed by M205 on a white CCS pad for one pass. This did the trick. Since this vehicle is a DD I was not aiming or even hoping for 100% correction. I do believe I hit the very high 90th percentile though. After polishing I applied a coat of Adam's Glaze followed by Adam's Americana Paste Wax. Glass got Rain-X after being cleaned inside and out with Meguiar's Glass Cleaner from the Christmas package. Interior was very clean so I gave it a once over with Meguiar's Quik Interior Detail and a quick vacuuming. Leather seats got a once over with Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner & Conditioner. Trim, vinyl and under the hood were treated With Adam's SVRT. I've now tried polishes from four different companies and I keep coming back to the 105/205 twins.

After I uploaded these last two pictures I figured out the lens had a fingerprint on it.....
