  • 2001 Honda Accord - saved by the Meg's twins (lots of pics)

This is my mom and dad's 2001 Honda Accord. It has just over 31,000 miles on the odometer. They bought this as their nice car, so it is garaged all the time and really doesn't get driven that often. They bought this car a little less than a year ago, however I have not been able to dedicate the time to it that it required until just recently. Inside and the trunk was pretty clean, as it had been sent to a "detail shop" before being put on the dealer lot. So it just needed a freshening up and the old greasy dressing removed. However, there was a general hazy look to the paint, lots of swirls, water spots on the windows, and some problem spots I wanted to give some attention to. I have probably 20 - 24 hours in this car over the course of 4 days. Turned out great in the end. Hope you enjoy!

    Interior/trunk
    Vacuum
Front floor mats cleaned with Duragloss carpet cleaner
DP interior cleaner on plastics and a couple spots on the passenger seat
    DP total interior protectant
Sprayway glass cleaner and glass towel on interior glass

    Wash/Clay
Meguiar's Super Degreaser on tires and wheel wells
Washed with P21S TAW, NXT car wash, Meg's Super Soap in the foam gun, microfiber wash mitt, 2BM
Clay with no name clay and Meg's Last Touch 1:1
    Re-wash with NXT car wash
    Dried with Cobra Guzzler

Meg's M105 with 5.5 inch orange LC CCS pad on G110v2
Meg's M205 on 5.5 inch white LC CCS pad on G110v2
    Poorboy's World White Diamond Glaze

    LSP
    Poorboy's World Liquid Natty Blue
    Wolfgang Fuzion

    Other products used
M105 on 5.5 inch orange CCS pad on glass to remove water spots, sealed with Klasse AIO and DG AW
    Griot's Garage Undercarriage spray
    DP tire gel
    Poorboy's World Trim Restorer
Klasse Sealant Glaze on license plate
Wolfgang Plastik Surface Sealant (on headlights and tail lights)
Optimum Opti-Seal (on door jams and fuel cap area (after claying))
Meguiar's Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish (on exhaust tip)

    I think that's it. Hope I didn't forget anything.

Guess the previous "detailer" didn't clean the plastics before applying his dressing. This is what I pulled off the plastics using DP Total Interior Cleaner.

Nice job! I really like the relfections in that metallic paint; a sign of a tru detailer's hard work. My brother-in-law had the same car with the same color but it never looked like this.

I really want to buy some of the Wolfgang Fuzion but I don't want to shell out $175. How did you like it? Was it easy to work with? Easy to remove?

              Great work.

Amazing how the previous detailer just dressed the interior before even cleaning it.

Nice work Shane! Great to see a car that's already in "good" shape get put into "great" shape by someone with some real talent! Good for you!

Yes, Fuzion is very nice if you have the money to spend on it. It is a very nice wax to work with. It is WOWO, but I split the car into thirds and applied and removed that way (apply to a third, remove, apply to a third, remove, etc.). Very easy to remove. Really couldn't be easier. However, since it is a beauty wax, I don't really use it very often. I could on this car since it is a garage queen.

Good work indeed, Shane. Looks like a car just rolled of the plant (and yeah, minus the DISO)

I have a 98 accord and I am struggling with some nasty swirls. I have tried 105 with my polishing pad on my g110v2 on speed 5 with no success. I am at a loss at what to try next??? I was wondering if you had any advice since you worked on a similar car??
