Here was this week-end project, a 2003 Chrysler 300M with 210645 km on the clock. From what you can see on the pictures, it has not been waxed (or even washed ???) in years !
The customer came to me asking if I could do anything to have the color back to black. He wants to trade it soon and wanted the car to look a little better. He wasn’t concerned about the yellow paint in the wheel wells or the bigger scratches. He only wanted the exterior to get done. The interior was fairly clean.
After work on Friday evening, I began by washing the wheels with Wheel Brightner, then cleaned the wells and tires with APC. I then washed the car with a strong mix of half Super Soap and half APC. Since the condition of the paint, APC couldn’t doo any more damage while helping cutting all the grim faster than just soap. I then cleaning the door jambs with the remaining water in the bucket. I finally dried the car using an Absorber and a Water Magnet.
On Saturday morning, I did a few test on the truck. I began by trying the Paint Reconditionning Cream on the 1st half, then #105 followed by #80 on the other half. I decided with the customer to use the 105/80 combo on all the upper part, then the PRC on the bumpers and lower doors. I then waxed with Gold Class Carnauba Plus. Used #135 Synthetic Spray as a final wipe on the paint, then on the windows, rims and door jambs. Armor All Extreme Shine Tire gel was used on the tires. They needed 3 coats before the shine was good enough for me. All Season Dressing was used on the trims and wheel wells.
I know I should have clayed the paint first, but the customer didn’t want to paint for this. Didn’t want to pay either to have the headlight sanded and polished. Ayways, the needed to be replaced because they had water in both of them.
When he came back to pick the car in late PM, he was amazed of the new look of the paint. Honestly, I was too because I didn’t think that I could have the paint to shine like that using my PC. Only the front bumper was too far gone to make shine like the rest of the car.
Note that while I was working on the car, my brother was in the garage prepping and painting a brand new hood for this car. As you’ll see, the old one needed to be replaced because of the rust.
Here are the pictures.

Half and half on the trunk. PRC was used on the left.

Not perfect, but a nice improvement.
