  • Degreased my Engine Bay: Pics Inside

In my pursuit of trying my new chemicals I decided that it was time to clean up my 2000 Buick Century with just over 70,000 Miles. Elderly driven for most of it's life but never maintained under the hood.

Using some Meguiar's Super Degreaser Ratio 4:1 and the engine slightly warm, I sprayed it down, let sit for a minute and aggitated it a bit. Sprayed with cool water and most of the grime blasted off. I hit a couple spots again and got it 90% of the way there.

I also tried out some stuff from Meguiar's called Hyper Dressing. Works wonders on Tires and the mixture was ratioed at 1:1 for the highest shine. After using it, you notice a difference for sure. I think though for Black Plastic would use Tire Shine (Gel) but this stuff makes everything look good.

Some of the photos did not come out, and I was running out of daylight. Also next time I will blow it out with a air hose too.

Aris, you ever get results with that new Foam Gun?? Btw, thanks!

I wish my pics did not half not show up correctly when downloaded. The Brake master was FILTHY. The grime just lifted up off the resivore (sp).

            Thanks guys!

Just the grime on the shock towers blasted off easily. That brush I used was not the best either and could not get to some spots.

Absolutely, a tremendous difference. I am amazed at the progress of the products and how they work.

Body Solvent and Hyper Wash (when I order my foam gun) will be the next 2 on the list.

You had a lot to cover. The Super Degreaser worked well.

Thanks. I did my wife's HHR this weekend and was pleasantly suprised. Not nearly as dirty as it had 22k on there and I had cleaned it a year previous with windex and a rag but the degreaser worked perfect. I have a high milage Hyundai Accent and Chevy Equonix to work on and will get more pics.

Great work on the engine bay - I love the Super Degreaser for this job.

I'm not sure how you applied the Hyper Dressing, but the method that produces the best results for me is as follows:
                          1. Spray Hyper Dressing onto plastic, rubber and black bits while still wet
                          2. With engine running, close hood and allow car to idle for +- 5 minutes
                          3. Turn engine off, open hood and wipe down plastic, rubber and black bits with a clean MF
