  • 2 Cars today

    Hi Guys,

Spent today detailing 2 cars. My dads V6 Ford Mondeo 220bhp and my Celica. What do you think? Still had a few bird dropping burns on the Mondeo's hood, going to give them another go next weekend, the Scratch X may do it after a second go.

Mondeo looking gruby (actually worse than it looks)

    After some TLC:

    GC Shampoo
Quick Clay (couldnt believe what came off)
    Scratch X (whole car)
Show Car Glaze #7 (inc wheels)
NXT Wax (it was pretty cold 6c so left it on for 30mins before the swipe test showed that it was ok to remove).
    Endurance Wheel treatment

Not forgeting the interior of course (Meguiars Natural Shine), just need the leather cleaner now.

And heres mine as it was feeling left out

Hope you all had as much fun today as me!

    Rob

Looks great. I love the look of NXT on blue and black. #7 is great on dark cars too. Both look dripping wet. Cheers!

        Thanks for the comments.

Using Clay really seems to make a difference as well. Last time i did the Mondeo i didnt use clay and the Wax was alot more difficult to remove.

This time i took my time and clayed the whole car. Wax removed in half the time. Preperation is definately the key

        Have a good week all.

          Very nice m8.

I think Imperial Blue is the best colour!!!

          I have a Imperial Blue Focus ST170

Hi Dave (thanks for the comments)

I used to have an ST170 in Silver, but changed it due to the mileage creeping up. Couldnt get it in Imperial Blue when I got mine, that is definately the best colour.

The ST220 is actually in Performance Blue, very similar to Imperial Blue but you dont get the 'purplish flip' that you get with Imperial. The Focus RS was in Ford Racing Blue, again very very similar. Why they made so many colours so similar who knows

Try the Show Car Glaze #7 under NXT, it would make your ST look great. As I was applying the #7 to the ST220 the paint was getting darker - its amazing to see. I tried P21S but its no where near as good IMO.

Just curious, did you hand apply the #7 and NXT?

                Hi Imoz

Yes, applied both by hand. Took 3 hrs start to finish on the Ford (quite alot of contaminants on the bodywork). Celica was fairly easy as i clayed it last week about 90mins in all.

Have been thinking about getting one of those battery operated polishers. Bit nervous about using one though - need to make sure that i read up on all the threads.

                Rob.

                  So buy #7 you think?
                  Is it a polish??
                  Is it used by hand??

                    Hi Dave,

Show Car Glaze #7 is excellent, its a Polish and is applied by hand. Really easy to use, wipe on and wipe off. Especially easy after claying. Finish with thin layer of NXT and looking good!

                      Thanks Robb

Is it the same as number 2 of the 3 step system???

                        Hi Dave

Yes #7 is very similar to Step 2 of Meguiars 3 Step system. In my opinion #7 is slightly better short term but the Step 2 polish seems to last slightly longer.

                        Both great

Nice work on both cars. The Mondeo has nice lines and reminds of a VW. Also, with 220bhp the Mondeo probably can be entertaining to drive. Now if Ford would sell it here in the USA (I know typical American whining about not getting the good cars).

                            Hi Teak

Thanks for the comments. Yep that Mondeo is great to drive. 0-60 around 7 secs, and the V6 sounds great.
