  • 2000 white Honda Odyssey

OK, this is my parents' 2000 Honda Odyssey, with little more than 83,000 miles on the odometer. This van is not a daily driver, but it is used when we go on long trips or need to haul stuff. It has been to New York and back once and to Minnesota and back several times. Really wasn't too bad - the inside just needed a good freshening up, and I wanted to remove the swirls on it and get it sealed up. I actually finished this up a couple weeks ago, but didn't get to take pics until a couple days ago. Just now posting it on MOL. What I did to freshen it up will follow detail process. Just to note, I did not buff the roof. I just washed it, clayed it, and put on a coat of Duragloss 105 followed later by an application of Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax. I'll probably put a coat of Poli-Coat or Power Lock on the roof at a later time. Reflection turned out a bit flat in pics - it's glossier in person.

    Interior
Door jams with Duragloss APC, assorted brushes
    Vacuum
Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer in a few areas like glovebox, under seats, cup holders that pull out of the dash, etc.
DP Total Interior Cleaner on plastics
DP Interior Surface Protectant on plastics
DP Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner (sampler) with Cobra glass WW towel on glass
Meguiar's Detailer Carpet and Upholstery cleaner on carpets and seats

    Exterior
Wheel wells, tires, and hubs with Meguiar's Super Degreaser and long and short handled brushes
Wash with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash, 2BM, microfiber mitt, rinse, water blade
Clay with Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay (love this stuff!) and Meguiar's Last Touch 1:1
Wash again, same process as above
    Dry with Cobra Guzzler
Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover with LC 5.5 inch orange CCS pad on G110v2
    Menzerna Power Lock sealant
    P21S Concours paste wax
Klasse AIO and Klasse SG on exterior glass
Meguiar's Hyper Dressing/Griot's Garage Undercarriage Spray in wheel wells
Surf City Garage Beyond Black on tires
Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant on lower trim, Ardex Viper Wax on upper trim

Freshen up(had sat outside and gotten rained on, so it just needed a freshening up)
Clean tires with Duragloss APC, long handled brush
Wash with 2BM, microfiber wash mitt, Meguiar's Shampoo Plus
    Dry with Guzzler
    Wipe down with FK 425
Meguiar's Glass Cleaner Concentrate on exterior glass
Surf City Garage Beyond Black on tires

I can't get those stupid brown spots out of the front floor mats - I've tried 7 or 8 different things, to no avail. Oh well. Could be worse for 10 year old floor mats.

Took a little detour on the way home...

    Thanks for looking!

            Great work.

I really like working on white paint, some find it boring though.

As for the floor mat, what have you tried doing to it?

You can get it pretty wet if you want since its something you can take out of the vehicle.

I would spray it down with some APC at 4:1 and Quik Out and then scrub it with hot soapy water and a stiff brush. This will really produce some foam so you will have to rinse it with water and use a shop vac to extract the water and cleaning solution. Then you can set it out in the sun to dry and go over it with cotton towels and vacumm it again.

If that doesnt work then I would try and find some of the rubber mats you can get for the Odyssey.

I have tried APC, APC+ (both at 10:1 and 4:1), Quik Out aerosol, Quik Out trigger spray, the Detailer Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, P21S Total Auto Wash at full strength (then rinsed out, vacuumed out, and air dried), Woolite, and 1 or 2 other carpet cleaners. I have tried several different methods of applying and extracting, but nothing works. The P21S TAW worked pretty good - after spraying, agitating, rinsing, and getting most of the water out with an ice scraper, I took the vacuum to it and got a lot of brown "sludge" out, but still not all of it. I even tried dyeing it at one point, but that didn't really work either. I'm at my wit's end trying to get that stuff out.

I have used 303 Fabric & Vinyl Cleaner to get out stains that nothing else would touch. It is amazing stuff.
