  • 2010 Toyota Prius

This is the second detail for the bass player I play with. I must say, I always thought the Prius was cool, but since I've had 24 hours with it, I don't want to give it back! I'm in love with this car. Toyota really knows how to put together a car, and it cleans out really easy.

Car was delivered around noon; again it was too hot to wash so I started with the interior.

    Interior befores:

    Backseat wasn't too bad:

    Door jambs were pretty bad:

    Mats before:

I vacummed out the interior (very short pile carpet = easy to vacuum!) and seats, shampooed the mats with Quik Out Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, and cleaned all interior surfaces with All Purpose Cleaner 4:1, and then went back and dressed the interior with Quik Interior Detailer. Door jambs were also cleaned with APC 4:1.

Some areas got the toothbrush treatment:

    Before:

    Scrub...

    50/50!

    Drivers side footrest before:

Drivers side footrest after: (I went back and shampooed the drivers side carpet after taking the picture.)

    Door jamb before:

    Door jamb after:

    One more:

    Interior afters:

(Dig the open space under the center console!)

I then moved onto the exterior. They took a trip to the mountains yesterday so the bugs had a nice ride!

    Before:

    Weels weren't too bad:

The back hatch was pretty bad with caked on dirt on the back windshe... thing.

Bugs and tar were treated with Body Solvent. (This stuff smells so good!)

Interior plastic mat was cleaned with Super Degreaser 10:1 and then left out in the sun to dry.

I cleaned the tires, wheels, and wells with Super Degreaser 4:1, Wheel Brightener 4:1, Eagle One Nano Wash and Wax (I buy whatever is on sale for wheels), and various brushes.

Super Degreaser started pulling immediately after spraying on the tire:

    Agitate...

    All better!

    After a nice long wash:

    Bugs are gone!

I lightly clayed the paint with Last Touch 1:1 and a Mother's clay bar. A couple of light bird etchings and scuffs were removed with Ultimate Compound by hand (no DA yet... ) and a Hi-Tech Foam Applicator Pad.

The back black piece connecting the two back windshields was treated with Ultimate Compound and #7 Show Car Glaze before sealing:

The car was sealed with NXT Next Generation Tech Wax 2.0, boosted with Ultimate Quik Wax the next morning. Glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate 10:1, tires were dressed with Hyper Dressing 2:1.

    Afters:

    Thanks for looking!

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I had a friend who drove a Prius and never EVER washed it. She was sort of a modern day hippie. It made me very sad. But this one looks awesome! Nice job.

                  Peace

Nice job! Just did a prius myself the other day (only light wash and vacuum though) and they are definitely a lot nicer than I thought they were. Interior was lots nicer than I expected haha!

Car looks great, keep up the good work!

Thanks! I found the car as a whole really easy to clean, and since I'm kind of a technology geek, all of the push button start stuff and shifter and door lock/handle thing was really cool! Didn't want to give the car back, and I'm not even a fan of silver!
