  • 2010 BMW x5

2010 BMW X5, pretty much brand new and had less than 1k miles.

    Belongs to my client's wife.

I had only two hours to wash and seal the paint and do a vac on the interior since she had to leave to go somewhere, so pics are not the best.

    A few befores:

I foamed the wheels, tires, and wells with Deep Crystal Car Wash, scrubbed with various brushes then rinsed. The brake dust was not too bad but the insides will get worse if they are let go.

I rinsed the truck then foamed it down with Super Soap. I was able to remove the bugs off the front end with just the soap solution and a Meguiars white wash mitt.

I let it sit a minute then snapped this shot:

After washing and drying I inspected the paint in the sun and was glad too see the truck is virtually defect free. I guess the dealership hacks did not get their hands on it.

I only had to spot clay a couple areas, other than that it was free of contamination and the paint was smooth as glass.

I sealed the paint with #21 - Synthetic Sealant 2.0.

Tires and wells dressed with All Season Dressing.

All glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1 and cotton towels.

I applied some #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer to the wheels and jambs.

Interior recieved a dry brush and a vac.

For a required quick turn around, the BMW looks great Nick!

Great job as always Nick. I noticed that you always wash cars under the sun. Doesn't it dry the soap solution or even the water you're using to rinse the vehicle?

Is that someone's garage, or is it a very nice looking car wash. Wow! $$$
Very clean looking place. Looks like you could eat off the concrete.

Nice job for a quick turn around.

          Thanks.

I wash them under the sun so I can see what I am doing and not miss any spots.

I was able to get the BMW in the garage about 7 seconds after the rinse.

The X5 looks great for only having 2 hours to work on it.

As much as you work at this client's house, do you have a stash of common products there so you aren't constantly having to bring them along? How do you transport product in your truck when you are working away from home.

              Thanks.

Last year I put a couple of things in the cabinet in the shop such as glass cleaner, Quik Out, NXT Car Wash, etc. But not too much.

I have a medium sized duffle bag I stow my D Line Bottles and shampoo in that fits perfectly with the top open. I bring 5 gallon buckets, my shop vac, a small box of wheel/tire washing brushes, and two Meguiars bags for towels, applicators, consumer sized bottles, extension cord, etc.

I keep a PC underneath the back seat inside the truck just in case. Then I roll up my garden hose nice and neat and put that in the bed.

Sometimes I bring my pressure washer if I am doing a mudding work/ company truck.

Nice work as always. It nice to see that your can actually wash a car in the sun and get spot-free results. The few times I tried, even if I rushed to dry the car I got some water spots. I always to my details in the shade under the car top beside my house.

Nick, I'm amazed at how you can wash a car in full sun. I lived in Florida 18 years and could never do that. Now that I'm in Colorado, I still can't do that. I wouldn't be able to foam the entire car and grab my camera before it would be completely dry. I can't figure out how you're able to do it. Florida's weather was hot and humid - couldn't do it. Colorado's weather is warm and dry - still can't do it.

It was just before 10am before I started this so it wasnt really full sun. I had the camera attached to my belt so I waited a minute to let the foam dwell then took the shot.

I just keep the vehicle wet all the time to avoid any spotting issues.

After the final rinse I pulled the truck into the garage and started drying it with WMs. I had it dry within a few minutes.

I find that when working outside in the sun its harder to miss a spot where its easy to in the shade.

I couldnt wash the truck in the garage since its not setup for that and there was no shade on the driveway really.

There were a couple of light spots and streaks but they were taken care of during the clay process with LT 1:1.

I saw the X5 today and the wheels are full of brake dust again already.
