Hi folks! New member here. Just wanted to check in and say that it's great to have a place to gather to discuss issues of detailing with like minded individuals. Below is a picture of my new toy. It's a couple of months old now and I'm looking forward playing in it, but also keeping it looking good.

and my last vehicle. I kind of miss this truck. But not the mileage.

    welcome Danny45,
my hope is that you enjoy this forum as much as i.

you are doing well on the pictures. i lurked for a while and have been a member for about a year and it was only yesterday that i managed to get some pictues onto the site. it took a little help from Mike Phillips to get them all in the thread.

hope to see more of your detailing pics.. am interested in how your truck fairs over the next few months. i.e. ride, mileage, and service. also have you noticed any orange peel on the paint. i have on 03 chevy and the further i progress in detailing the more i noticed how bad my paint job was.

    oh well, keep us informed.

It's not just GM's paint. It seems everyone has this problem. I heard (can only assume it's correct) that the fault of this lies not with the automakers, but with the paint makers as they have to abide by a **** load of EPA and other Gov't regulations. Every vehicle I've had since 1989 has had pretty evident "orange peel". I believe only custom paint jobs will remedy this as they take much more time to prep, sand, etc the paint before applying clear coat to it.

The truck is great!! I'm getting about 22 mpg with about 75 percent highway driving. Plenty of power from the I-5 and I've had it off-road a few times and it went every place I told it too, or should say "brave enough to try!".

      Thanks for the welcome!

You can say that again!! And speaking of that, what do you recommend for taking wax off all that plastic molding and flares that will inevitably get it on them? I've heard mineral spirits is good, but I've also heard that it will remove all wax if gotten on painted finishes. I've also heard (get this) that peanut butter will take off wax overflow as will peanut oil. Since I don't want to remove any wax on painted surfaces next to the plastic, and I'd prefer not to have any squirrels chewing on my truck, what do you recommend?

            And thanks for the welcome!

yep... black like your truck. If you don't use it already NXT really looks great on black as I am sure you have read. Your RT sure looked good.

                What products do you use?

None of the new stuff. Meguiar's is the only thing I use, but that can of wax is getting pretty old. But, it still seems to work. Thanks for the compliments.

My Colorado is Indigo Blue. But the pics **** so it looks black. The R/T was nice, but a major gas hog. But I sure miss it when a Civic pulls up next to me with a coffee can on back.
