  • My First Shot

Well i've been reading up on here and learning new things everyday and i finally put my learning to the test. I have loved the look of black cars but always hated washing them because it is so hard but when you have products like Meguiars, there's no need to be afraid. I still have a long ways to go to catch up with Murr lol. Sorry, no before pics.

    wash
    clay
    cleaner wax

I really should have swirl x but i cant seem to get results by hand and dont have a da. Its a big improvement but when you see the hood picture you can see some swirls/cobwebs.
Your Critique And Tips Will Be Greatly Appreciated!!

sorry my kids car was behind me lol
Am i obsessed?? A car is the second biggest financial investment for most people, why not keep it looking better than new?

if you notice the rear bumper pic it looks swirled in the top corner but it was actually a backing accident and the paint spiderwebbed and cracked, how is a problem like that corrected? Repaint?

Looks better than the vast majority of black cars on the road. I think you did a great job on it.

Yea slowly but surely i wanna be up there with the big boys. Is it a bad idea to practice using Meg's DA on a car i care about?

Hey thanks! Thats what i was trying to accomplish. But i did notice that a few days after i done this, if i wipe a section with a towel with a lot of pressure i see streaks. Why is that? Did i miss something?

                  Thanks J.A. Micheals too.

If you watch the videos on using the DA polisher, work on a clean vehicle and start with the least aggressive compound and pad, I think it would be very tough to do damage. Most people using the DA inappropriately don't remove as much clearcoat/paint as they want to.

I did about 2 weeks of research while waiting for my DA Polisher to arrive. I felt like an expert before it arrived. Then I was put into my place. Using the polisher correctly is an art. I'm still refining the process and will for a couple more years. Speed, pressure, angles, product application, cleaning on the fly it all comes with time, but even a novice can get amazing results.

I kind of look at the DA Polisher like a palm sander and a rotary polisher, like a belt sander. DA's are fairly safe, but the still demand a bit respect. Rotaries on the other hand can destroy your paint within seconds if used inappropriately
