  • 2005 Ford Excursion

    2005 Ford Excursion, 45k miles.

I did the truck a little over a year ago and was glad to see the owner come to me again.

Client is going to be trading it in soon so it needed to be cleaned up a bit, plus some areas needed special attention.

I used my new Gilmour foam gun for the first time but was not able to get any during shots of it. I have a Silverado and a Sierra to clean up next week so I will be sure to take some pictures of the gun in action then.

    A few befores:

I rinsed off all the wheels, tires, and wells and then foamed them with Super Soap . I then sprayed them down with All Purpose Cleaner, agitated and then rinsed.

I foamed up the truck and washed it with a couple of Meguiars wash mitts and a bug sponge where needed. I also added a few oz of solution to the rinse bucket.

I dried it with some WMs and then started on the interior.

The carpet was given a dry brush and vac, then some areas were spot cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner. The entire interior was cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner, cotton towels, and various brushes. The dash was dressed with Ultimate Protectant. Glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1 and the doorjambs were wiped out with Last Touch Spray Detailer.

I lightly clayed the paint, then applied #6 - Cleaner Wax with my G110 and a few W8207 pads.

Tires, trim, and wells were dressed with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner. The wheels were waxed with A12 Cleaner Wax. All glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1.

Guess the client will be happy! The Excursion is a nice SUV! Not very common in Europe! But the Swedish border protection use a couple of them, lovely sound from the pipes!

You did a black school bus?!? Dang, you are good. Looks great Nick! Lovely weather these past few days for detailing. I think I dropped 5 lbs easy this afternoon just doing an ONR maintenance wash. Curious: Is this ridiculous humidity interfering with wax or polish for you?

Did you bring in the garbage cans?

The Excursion looks good Nick, I'm sure he will get top $ on a trade in.

Great job as always Nick! I would like to know what you think about the Gilmour foam gun. Did it speed up your process of washing the car? Is it a necessary tool?

They're going to get top dollar on the trade.....if they even trade it after the way it looks now! I'd love to rock that baby around town for a bit.

Imagine if last year they were looking to trade it in and got it cleaned by Nick, then realized it was amazing and decided to keep it. A year later it got all dirty and yucky again and wanted to trade it in, thus having a detail again... and the cycle continues, hehe

                      Thanks Paul!

The humidity has been bugging me a little bit. My spray detailers, polishes, and sealants dry up a bit quick.

I never detail the cans, lol.

                      Thanks.

I like it a lot. I have used it with NXT, #62, and Super Soap. Makes cleaning wheels, tires, and wells more fun.

I will go into further detail on my next writeup.

Heres how it looked a little over a year ago.
