  • First time using my new rotary

Well, yesterday was my first time using my Bosch rotary. I practiced in a old hood. The paint is single stage, and it was a disaster, paint overspray, coebweb swirls, scratches, oxidation, acid rain, tree sap, bird bombs, etc. So i decided to wetsanding it before polishing.

I doesn't have a compound, the most agressive product that i have is #83 DACP, so I did not be able to remove completely the wetsanding marks.

After seeying this pics, i think that the results are awesome, considering the previous condition and that is the first time using the rotary.

    The process:

    Sonax Wash x2
    Sonüs Clay
    Wetsand w/ 1500 grit sandpaper
#83 DACP via rotary w/ LC Yellow Cutting Pad @ 1700 rpm
#80 SG via rotary w/ LC White Polishing Pad @ 1500 rpm
    EX-P by hand

    Greetings, Lochi

PS: Sorry for my bad english.

                    Great work!!!!!

Many people are scared to use a rotary, but if you take your time, use some common sense and get proper instruction you can get dramatic results like you have gotten. Way to go!!!!

                      Thanks all for your compliments!

RDVT4ME, thats true, when you read about using a rotary it scares you.

I bought the Meg's training video, watched it a couple of times and take some notes. Then all is practice.

Forgive me for being a NOOB, but what kind of tape is used on the hinges, etc? Painter's tape? Do you need to use this on key locks, door handles, emblems, etc when using a rotary or DAP?

                          Use painters tape.

Use it on all the items you mentioned.

The reasons you use the tape are:

                          1. Protect the item from damage. If you accidently catch the pad on a trim piece you can damage it, especially with a rotary.

                          2. Makes clean-up easier. With buffers you can get some product flying around. It can be a pain to clean from trim/plastic pieces. Covering it with tape makes for faster clean-up. Use it on rubber trim pieces also.

Excellente... and don't forget the tape, if you burn some plastic or rubber part it will make all you work pointless... specially on black rubber a white buff looks ugly...
if you cant get painters masking tape use conventional 3M or a good brand just make sure any glue part isn't exposed to make contact with your foam pad and it adhered well to the rubber surface.
