  • Worst interior dressing

    11' GMC Sierra 1500, 6k miles.

Client bought it a few months ago to use as a work truck.

I usually do not take care of the work trucks and he just takes them to the local car wash.

I was doing some maintenence work on some of his other toys, walked by the truck and couldnt help but notice what looked like the interior was dressed and coated with motor oil.

    It looked worse in person........

I know the interior of these trucks pretty well and they are just plain matte black from the factory, the plastic soaks up dressing really easily. Only thing that looks acceptable is #40 or NS IMO. But I prefer QID.

It was on the door panels and vinyl armrest as well.

Looks like they didnt even clean the interior, but just dressed everything. I opened the door and took a look around.

Its sad what passes for detailing these days.

Wow, look at the glare in the windshield! I think I know which product that is....

And for some reason I have found that most people love this look. Not sure why. Apparently greasy and shiny means clean....lol

That is a little much for my taste. Can you imagine what type of stuff is up and down your arm from resting it on the arm rest?

I hate greasy interior dressings... I think turtle wax or armor all does that. I had a car detailed at a local car wash that did the engine/interior/exterior and the interior looked like that. My hands was literally sliding when I turn the steering wheel...

I usually just use warm water and a microfiber cloth. Now, I use QID but that's the only chemical I can see using.

Yes, it certainly must be annoying to drive with that glare.

I have a strong feeling that it is Armor All.

I know what you mean regarding this extremy greasy look, some folks do like it.

I didnt say anything to the owner, If I ever detail it in the future I am definitly stripping that garbage off.

It even looks bad in the shade.

Just think...on a hot day, you could fry an egg on that dash and it wouldn't stick!

When I bought my 300C, the "detailer" did that to the interior. The dashboard of the 300 is desk-sized anyway, and they covered it in whatever kind of high-gloss dressing they use. It looked AWFUL. First thing I did upon getting home was scrub that **** off.

It looked like tire dressing, really it did.

This stuff would look high gloss on tires.

                  Re: Worst interior dressing

Well I'll be the one to disagree and say that I like relatively shiny interiors .... I own a 2007 Z71 Tahoe which is probably the same interior as the pic you posted and find that it looks extremely tasteful to have a dressed interior and its almost expected being a detailer. Unless ofcourse you like to show off the dull matte finish. To each is it own and for me an mine I dont go matte.
I use SS Natural finish and believe it or not its relatively shiny and for my leather I use the Megs Conditioner that also leaves a shiny finish (for atleast a week)

I am also on the side of liking very high gloss interior. I will generally use a high gloss product like Supreme Shine Protectant the first time I get a customer. I do because there is a noticable difference. Once the initial protection is present, I will normally switch to Quik Interior Detailer.

In that picture, it looks a little too glossy for my taste, but at least it's evenly applied. Did the plastic absorb the product, or did you try wiping it off at all?

I didnt try and do anything to remove it, the owner did not tell me to detail this truck.

The plastic trim in these trucks take dressing pretty well.

                          That makes me sick.

The interior will never be the same again.

Put me down for a NATURAL looking interior. High gloss dashes look fake and nasty to me. Could you imagine smearing that junk all over a high end car, ie. Bentley, Maseratti, Lambo?

Could you imagine putting a high gloss shine on an interior covered in Connolly leather? Yuck!

If my dash pad on my Camaro is high gloss you cant see anything because of the reflection.
