  • 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle - "Best of Show" by Infinite Detail

Mike and I had the privilege of correcting the paint and detailing this gorgeous 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle. This beautiful specimen won "Best of Show" at the Run To The Pines car show in 2005 when it was fresh out of the paint booth. Although very well cared for, 5 years of showing had definitely taken its toll on the paint:

Testing revealed the most effective and least aggressive combo to be:
    • M105 Via Flex on an Orange LC pad
    • M105 via Rotary on a Meg's Cut N Shine wool pad on black stripes
    • M205 via G110 on Meg's finishing pad @ Speed 5
Here is a 50/50 of the black stripe - Notice the light multi-colored flake:

The interior was cleaned with APC+ @ 10:1, and dressed with Hyper Dressing @ 3:1

We sealed the paint with M20

    Here are the afters:

As an added bonus, the very next day this Chevelle won the People's Choice award at the local car show!

    Thanks for looking

One more pic - I love how the flake jumps off of the paint after polishing with M205:

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

                  Awesome Work! It looks amazing!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                  Remove swirls my friends.

That looks very good, I love the paint and the accent stripes, which I normally don't. That is a very meaty car, what's under the hood?
