  • 2007 Chevy Silverado

Finally got around to cleaning up my Silverado. Last time I waxed it was back in January, last time I washed it was in April. Just been too busy and didnt want to rush it and do a half a$$ job.

I originally planned on polishing it with some M205 and sealing it with some NXT, but after I realized how long the wash took I only had time to go over the paint with something one time.

I washed it with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner, clayed it really quick, and sealed the paint with #20 - Polymer Sealant.

Tires, wells, and trim were dressed with All Season Dressing.

Did a quick vac and wipedown on the interior but no pics of that.

I think I am going to trade it in soon, it only has 31k miles and the interior is immaculate and has never had any spots or stains on the carpet. All I ever had to do was vacumm it. Engine is in really clean shape as well as the paint. If I do trade it in I am pulling off my BFG All Terrains and putting the POS stock tires back on, no way am I spending a grand on tires again.

I was at the Chevy dealer the other day looking around and saw this nice 2010 Silverado, it was a blue metallic regular cab Z71 that caught my eye, sticker price was 30k though, a bit too much for a regular cab IMO. We'll see what happens.

    Anyways, a few befores:

    Just a few afters:

It about 95% defect free, took this sun shot, dont mind the wax streak, I didnt let the M20 dry as long as I should have.

Went to the coin op earlier this morning, blasted some stains off in the bed and some dirt.

Looks pretty good, had it sprayed about two years ago. I dont use it as a work truck but I do keep a lot of stuff in the bed. I do not apply any dressings to it.

It looks good, what an improvement. I especially like the tires and the style of those factory wheels.

I can't believe how clean it was for not having been washed for 3 months. Mine would look that dirty in 3 days. 3 months and I probably wouldn't be able to see out of the windows.

What's the name of the color?

Why are you looking to trade it in, it looks like a new truck? Do you normally only keep your vehicles for 2-3 years?

I forgot to ask, why M20 over NXT 2.0 if you were initially planning on NXT?

I think it was an LT1, had a 5.3 V8, 4x4, Z71, aluminum wheels, no leather though. Short bed as well. Really like the color as well. Had a couple other little goodies as well.

Not a fan of the crew cabs, its a nice truck but just not my thing. I like having an extended cab but would like to have a regular cab.

30k is the sticker price, I would want at least 4k knocked off.

            Thanks Bill.

It was a lot more dirty in person, the inside glass had a film of dust though.

            The color is Victory Red.

The red is just not my thing anymore, I want a metallic color.

            Nope, the new Gold Class.

Stopped beading a few weeks ago.

Looks good, Nick, I like your truck. If you don't use it as a work truck, but more of a hauler, would you consider getting black? Black Chevy's are mean looking if the paint is well-kept (safe to assume, right?).

It bugs me when I do other cars and don't have time to attend to my own, I apologize to it after I've spent all day shining up some fancy little lady. Meanwhile the Accord stands faithfully by: collecting pollen and doing it's best to avoid hard water overspray...

I really like the new standard cab Silverado (and Sierra) trucks. Not sure I could let that clean 07 go, though.

If you do trade it in, can't wait to see the new truck.

But I didnt have time for the M205 so I used M20 for its cleaning ability and durable protection.

                  Thank you sir.

I would never purchase a daily driver in black, if it was a show truck then I would consider it. I do not even like working on black vehicles in general.

My favorite colors are certain shades of red, tan or blue metallic, and white.

Some find white paint boring, but I actually enjoy detailing white paint.

The reason I am strongly leaning towards metallic is because the red is a bit hard to keep up.

I really love the GMC grille. Really is nicer than the Chevy grille IMO.

Thats what stopping me, its such a clean three year old truck and I have never had a single problem with it.

I think they introduced a few new colors for 2010.

My uncle has that color on his GMC, I think.

                        Re: 2007 Chevy Silverado

The truck looks good. I'm kind of surprised it wasn't dirtier for not being washed in 3 months. With the constant rain you've been having it wouldn't have made too much sense to try to keep up with it. I'm traveling for work now and have had to cancel getting my truck washed each of the last two weekends because of rain. Omaha has had rain almost every day this month and is at about triple their normal monthly rainfall. Hoping for drier weather the next couple of weeks.

The price at 30k may not be as bad it looks on the surface. Using a Joliet zip code (closest one in IL I knew off the top of my head) Chevy has 4500 cash allowance or 0% for 72 months on regular cab 1500s through 7/6/10 according to their website. Extended and crew cabs have 5000 cash or the same financing terms.

Personally I wouldn't want a regular cab because it seems like I always have a shopping bag, backpack or computer bag with me that I put behind my seat. It always bothers me when you go to get in someone's car or truck and they have to move a mountain of stuff so you can sit. Depending how tall you are, seat adjustability may be an issue too with the regular cab.

                        Good luck with the decision.

I Personaly would keep this truck..i don't see the point in trading it in to buy the exact same truck IMO

I can relate. I test drove a red GMC (before buying black) and I didn't like the vibe. Red is kind of a "look at me", "look at me" color. The novelty would wear off after a while, particularly on a truck that's kept clean and basic.

Although white is notorious with work, I like it. It looks really fresh when kept clean. It's easy to accent with a tasteful amount of chrome without looking tacky. It doesn't get too hot. Lots of good things about white and to be honest it's not common to see a white truck that's kept crisp and clean.
