  • 200x Chevy Blazer: Interior Decontamination!!!, Wash and Seal

The focus for this detail was primarily on the interior, but I did wash and seal it.

    Process:
    • Interior vacuumed, brushed with rubber brush, vacuumed again.
    • All upholstery and interior surfaces (except headliner, windows) shampooed with D102 (Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner foam) and steam cleaned.
    • M23 (Odor Eliminator) applied, let dry, and applied again to all upholstery.
    • Ultimate Protectant applied where appropriate.
    • Glass Cleaner concentrate on windows 1:10; 2 cleanings.
    • Washed with Hyper-Wash/foam gun/3 buckets.
    • Body Solvent used on tar/grime.
    • Wheel Brightener 1:4 used on wheels, with toothbrush.
    • M21 sealant applied, 2 layers.
    • All-Season Dressing on tires.
    • Rain-X applied.
The carpet and seats were full of debris, and had the largest amount of dog hair I've had to clean yet. The rubber brush really helped collect it together to be vacuumed. The doors, dash, and other hard surfaces were dusty and kind of sticky. The steam melted through all of the grime; note no cleaning products were used for the hard surfaces, just steam.

Here's a before and after of my steam cleaner's head, with a blue MF clipped over it. This was after steaming one seat one time; I went over all of the seats 3 or 4 times until the MF came back clean. If the dog hair wasn't evidence enough, the smells that were vaporizing out of the seats definitely confirmed that a dog(s) has been cruising in this Blazer. I wore a mask and went through several pairs of latex gloves when working with the steam.

Here are the afters of the interior:

Here are some before/afters of Exterior. I originally had more pictures, but ones that I thought came out okay were actually quite blurry once I viewed them on my computer. The afters are all after wash but before sealant/dressing, except for the last one.

This is the only photo that came out clear after M21 applied, and All-Season Dressing on tires:

I'm loving my steam cleaner so far, I think it really made a difference on this job.

Comments or questions are welcome, thanks for looking.

Great work. The interior was a mess. Quite disgusting. Do not blame you for wearing a mask.

Inside and out the Blazer looks fantastic. Way to go.

Awesome Work! That was one messy car!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
      Remove swirls my friends.

Great turnaround! The vehicle looks really nice now, and the paint is super glossy.

The customer should put new black floor mats in, it will look much better with a matching set.

Thank you, Golden. I didn't really do any paint correction, I clayed and polished the hood with D151, D/A, and polishing pad, and the difference wasn't noticeable. Since it looked like it needed to be fully compounded and the owner wasn't really interested in the exterior, I moved on. It's amazing the difference that M21 makes, though not really truly captured in the photo. As far as the floor mats, those are mats from a previous car. The Blazer has high mileage and isn't the most dependable, it also needs body work done to the front end after striking a deer. With that being said, I think the owner is more likely to put money into the gas tank and other scheduled repairs than matching mats, though they are always suggested! I would love to have a WeatherTech distributorship, I preach their mats to every customer, actually to anyone that doesn't have them.
Preventative measures really make a difference in car care, I won't go on ad nauseam.
