  • 2000 Nissan Xterra

    2000 Nissan Xterra, 130k miles.

Client was mainly concerned with the interior and the extremly faded plastic trim.

Started cleaning the wheels, tires, and wells and then realized I forgot to take before shots:

Washed the wheels, tires, and wells with Deep Crystal Car Wash, All Purpose Cleaner, and Super Degreaser along with various brushes.

I then washed the truck with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner and Body Solvent.

After drying, I pulled the truck in the garage and started working on the interior.

I vacummed, dry brushed, and vacummed for about forty five minutes. I pulled out the rear seats and vacummed under there as well.

I cleaned the carpets with All Purpose Cleaner, warm water, and a brush. I extracted with my shop vac, water, and cotton towels.

All hard surfaces were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner, cotton towels, and various brushes were needed, then dressed with Quik Interior Detailer.

The door and trunk jambs were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner and a terry cloth along with warm water.

Glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1. twice.

All vents and crevices were brushes out as well.

I heavily clayed the paint with Detailing Clay (Mild) and Last Touch Spray Detailer at 1:1. I then applied #6 - Cleaner Wax with my PC at speed 4 using several W8207 pads. I also applied it by hand where the machine could not go. I then topped that with an application of my 70/30 #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer and Ultimate Quik Wax mix.

The wheels were waxed by hand with Cleaner Wax, tires, and fender wells were dressed with All Season Dressing.

The exterior trim was cleaned and protected with Ultimate Protectant.

    It looked pretty bad before:

    Test spot:

    The completed truck:

Knocked down the swirls and scratches, not bad at all for a ten year old daily driver:

The trim turned out much better, not perfect though.

Let me know what you think.

Great work as always Nick. That interior was nasty.

                  Way to go Nick!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                  Remove swirls my friends.

My jaw just hit my desk when I saw the after pics of the paint/exterior! What a turn-around. Love the interior as well!

                            Thanks Jeff.

                            It took about six hours.

Yes, I do this full time.

Wow!! M6 really did wonders on that paint. I can't believe the end result. The paint looks amazing!

On a side note, my friend had an XTerra just like it - same year, exterior color, and interior. His looked really good for the age, but not this good. Too funny.
