The doors and dash had a white chalky substance on them. Cleaned with APC 4:1 and treated with HD 2:1. Conditioned the seats with Gold Class conditioner. The carpets were vacuumed and steamed. Clayed the door jambs and topped with M21.

    Before:

    Afters:

The exterior was in pretty good shape. Washed the car with ONR and the rims were cleaned with Wheel Brite 4:1. No real paint correction was needed. There was however some residue left from a protective film the customer had on the front of the car that needed to be removed using 3M adhesive remover. After that was done I clayed the car and polished with M205 and an LC white pad. Topped it off with M21. The tires and plastics were dressed in ASD. I cleaned the engine with Super Degreaser and dressed up with HD 2:1. Cleaned and polished the tips with megs Mag and Wheel.

    Before:

    The left over residue.

    Afters:

    Thanks for viewing.

What in the world was that on the interior pieces? Was it stained or did look like it was badly sun damaged? Either way...... nice save!!!

Rest of the car looks pretty darn good, too!

Not sure exactly what it was but it was kinda chalky. It would come off if you rubbed on it with your bare finger tips. The only thing that I could think of is that it was something the owner had cleaned with. Thank you for the nice comment.

Tracy - Lookin' great man! I've seen that chalky stuff on other Vettes and an Acura TL. It's something to do with the type of material, what what gets applied to it, I believe. I've never been able to figure it out. Sometimes it even looks chalky after cleaning and so I always make sure to dress those areas to "moisturize" that material.

        Anyway, great work as usual!

Tracy, great work once again. The interior was a mess. Great save. The exterior looks fantastic. Bet the owner was thrilled to get that residue removed. Way to go.

Did I see a clear Film on the nose of that Vette ? If so how did you address the cleaning of it and what did you use or is it a removable one ?

Thank you Mike. I used HD 2:1 to dress those areas but was wondering if some sort of leather conditioner would have been better.

There was a clear film on the nose but the owner had already moved it prior to bringing it to me. However on the clear films like that I treat them just as they were paint. I will clay and apply wax to them. I usually don't run my rotary or DA across them though.

The chalky look is for the people that don't like a high gloss appearance. I use talcum powder as an interior dressing - it reduces glare. Not sure about the UV protection, though.
