  • Black Navigator

2004 Lincoln Navigator, 75k on the clock. Exterior was just freshened up and the interior was given a good cleaning. The owner was mainly concerned with the leather. It looked bad.

The whole seat was like this, just really dirty. I was too excited to get started so I did not take a whole lot of pictures.

I washed the wheels, tires, wells, and running boards with Deep Crystal Car Wash, Super Degreaser, and Wheel Brightener along with various brushes.

I then washed the truck with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner and used Body Solvent where needed.

Rinsed, then dried with several Water Magnets.

The Navigator decided to spend the night, so I worked on it until about 10pm. By that time I was able to clay the paint, glass, and wheels. Apply #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) to all the paint and chrome with my PC ste at speed 4. I used four W8207 pads. I then topped that the next day with my 70/30 mix of #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer and Ultimate Quik Wax, it did not streak on black paint. It passed one of my tests.

Tires were dressed with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner, wheels were waxed with #20 - Polymer Sealant, and the glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1.

The next morning I had to go wash and seal a Ford Focus, so I planned on just throwing it in the garage and start working on it again in the evening and try finishing around midnight.

My detail got cancelled,. So I went ahead and just finished the Navigator the next morning.

Carpet was cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner, warm water, a brush. The extracted with my shop vac, water, and large cotton towels. The leather was scrubbed with a toothbrush and All Purpose Cleaner. I had to work small concentrated areas to remove all the grime. The leather was then dressed with Gold Class Rich Leather Spray .

Dash, door panels, and other vinyl surfaces were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner then dressed with #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner. Door jambs were wiped clean with Last Touch Spray Detailer.

    Leather is super clean:

          Thank you sir.

I use generic wheel and tire brushes from Lowes, and some SM Arnold brushes. I actually still have and use the exact same tire brush for a little over a year now.

Nothing wrong with using a toilet brush though, I use them for cleaning wheelwells. Its slim enough to reach in tight areas of the well and cleans very effectively.

I get mine at Walmart for under $2.

Great work Nick. That thing is a beast. I've had way to many large SUV's lately so I have even more respect for the time/efforts you put into this. And then for it to be black... You're probably exhausted! I am just looking at it, haha!

As usual, excellent work Nick. You got my attention though with your 70/30 blend of 135 & UQW. Where did you come up with that idea and how does it work?

Thank you Mike. SUVs can be a real chore sometimes, especially when you are dealing with black, lol.

                        Thank you Paul.

I do not like buying bottle after bottle of UQW, it gets a little expensive.

So now I just use a 70/30 blend of 135 and UQW, it has a thicker consistency and works really well actually. It has not streaked on me yet. Gives a nice deep dark wet look as well. It beads nicely as well.

I think it looks great on this truck following my application of M66. Added a little something extra.

I also use it on door jambs and wheels. I am still playing Mr Chemist with it so I may change up the ratio to see how that works.

Its nice having a spray wax in bulk now though.

Okay...so I think I have figured out your game Nick. You get this older vehicle and take pictures of it's filth, scratches, swirls and grime. Then, you pop over to the nearest dealership and take pictures of a NEW vehicle and post that as your work. HA! After all this time, I nailed the truth.

Gotta hand it to ya, it fooled me for awhile.

In all seriousness, another great job Nick. And I truely believe that even a NEW vehicle wouldn't look as good. You perform flawlessly on everything you touch. Nice work Nick. FANTASTIC!
