  • Accord, F-250 FX4

2008 Honda Accord, 13k on the clock.

Exterior was in pretty good shape , interior wasnt though, the owner spilled hand lotion on the carpet and left a lot of makeup residue everywhere

Interior got the full treatment, just a wash and seal on the exterior. Was able to get some nice correction with #66 while I was at it though, soft Honda paint was taken into account as well. More on that later.

The sun was beating too hard to get during shots of the wash, I managed to get one though. Washing a black vehicle when its over 80 degress out is a real PITA. Didnt want the paint to dry.

Washed the wheels, tires, and wells with All Purpose Cleaner and various brushes.

The entire car was washed with Shampoo Plus and Body Solvent where needed.

Vacummed the trunk and wiped the jambs down:

All Interior surfaces were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner, cotton towels, and a toothbrush where needed, then dressed with Quik Interior Detailer. Leather was dressed with Gold Class Rich Leather Spray .

The carpets were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner Plus and a brush dipped in hot water. Then extracted with water, cotton towels, and a shop vac. They were dry brushed and vac'd before hand in case you were wondering.

The door jambs were wiped clean with Last Touch Spray Detailer

Heres where that hand lotion was, came out nice. It was just really stiff before:

Floormats were cleaned and extracted the same way, but put out in the sun to dry faster.

Not sure what was on the steering wheel, must have been makeup or something. Scrubbed it off with toothbrush since the wheel is textured.

The exterior was lightly clayed, and an application of #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) via PC at speed 5 removed the light swirls and toweling marks that were on the car. I went around the car with a W8207 pad with this step. I worked the #66 in very well and did not just spread it out over the surface.

Mike Stoops has had a few soft Hondas in the Meguiars Garage and claimed they were really fussy and needed to be finished out correctly. Simply using more aggressive products such as M105 or UC hazed the paint and required something light such as M66 or SwirlX. I wanted to be 110% sure that this black Honda had no hazing of any sort. This one had to be done right since there was no time to go back over the paint with anything again. So I then decided to apply #20 - Polymer Sealant with my PC at speed 3 using two W9207 pads. I just glided the PC over the surface and used the #20 for its durable protection and its light cleaning ability.

Tires and fenderwells were dressed with All Season Dressing, glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate 10:1. The wheels were sealed with #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer

The paint looked liquid wet in the sun. Too bad the sun just popped in and out at certaint times.

2004 Ford F-250, 64k on the clock. Was pretty dirty and needed to be freshened up a bit. The owner was paying for five hours of my best work. I just got done as much as I could.

Wash wheels, tires, and wheelwells with Deep Crystal Car Wash, Wheel Brightener, Super Degreaser, and various brushes.

Note the amount of dirt bleeding out of the tire before it was even agitated, ADS foaming sprayer was used as well.

The truck was washed with Shampoo Plus and Body Solvent where needed.

The exterior was lightly clayed, then one stepped with #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) via my PC at speed 5. I went through several W8207 pads since two of them turned a little black. Pulled a lot of dirty paint from the finish I guess. Tires and fenderwells as well as the trim were dressed with All Season Dressing, glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1, the wheels were wiped down with it as well.

The interior was vacummed, dry brushed, then vacummed then spot treated. The rubber mats were cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner a tire brush and an old wash mitt. Interior was cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner and dressed with Quik Interior Detailer

    Re: Accord, F-250 FX4

Honda looks particularly good for the processes you used. I have an '08 Accord, same color, and it is actually the car I first used a D/A on. I had a lot of swirls, haziness, and wash marks, and had to 105 the entire car, then 205 to get full correction. The difference in haziness on your customer's Accord from the first picture to the afters is awesome for having used only a cleaner wax. I have some M06 that I plan on using on my car for seasonal details that now I've solved the source of the scratches/swirls and it is fully polished, but I also have some D151 (test spots in order, I guess). Is this another dentist detail?
    A few ?'s:
What % of swirl correction do you think you achieved? How does M66 compare to M06 in terms of correction, to your knowledge? What would you have done if the customer wanted full correction?

By the way, truck looks awesome, too, I like when you use the shots of tire cleaning with dirt running from tire.

Both vehicles look fantastic, Nick. The Honda really looks wet in the sun pic. The truck great. Nice pic of the dirt running off the tire. Way to go Excellent results as always.

So tell me Nick, did you like cleaning the carpet in that Accord better than the carpet in the Mazda 3?

              Thank you sir.

Yes this is just another couple of basic details from the office.

Judging by the two sunshots I posted, I would say the paint is 90% corrected. M66 has more cut than M06, M66 is also more formulated for machine application while M06 works better by hand.

If the customer wanted a full correction I would have probably went with M205 and either a W8207 or W9207 pad, followed by NXT.

Still, M66 followed by M20 did offer some correction, Not 100% but more like 90%. I would say it looks better than 90% of black cars on the road though.

Yes sir, the Accord had a nice deep pile while the Mazda made me feel like I was cleaning a cheap backpack.

                  Nick:
That Honda looks great! And it's black!! I was going to bust your stones the other night about doing so many light colored vehicles lately. I scrolled through the last several posts and that's where I found the UFO picture. http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...t=42322&page=2
And they came from Michigan for your services, wow!

I'm liking that F250 too. That very last pic is sweet.
The F250 looks like it has rust on the front bumper. Since that is a large spot and it's readily visible it made me wonder: what do you do when you find a small rust spot while washing or claying? How do you remind yourself to be careful or stay away from that area? Circle it with a china marker? Just hunting for a suggestion.

You've been busy, Nick, and that's great.

Do all these people bring their cars to you, do you go pick them up, or what? Seems like your driveway has a lot of traffic!

Yes, the F-250 does have some rust on the front bumper. I just washed it and did not really do much else to it. I would have probably ruined my clay bar by going over it. I am cheap enough as it is and no way was I going to experiment with the clay on the rust. We all know know how $ clay is.

If you do not plan on repairing the area, then I would just stay away from it.

Paul, you do not have any rust on that beautiful G8 of yours do you? The Trailblazer SS?

                        Nope!

There is rust both on my mom's mid '90's Volvo and my aunt's 2002 Volvo. These four vehicles are the extent of my"fleet" that I care for.
