  • A quick detail on the Cutlass

Nothing too fancy - just a wash and a quick coat of wax.

    Process:
Tires and fender wells with Meguiar's APC+
Wash with Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo, 2BM, lambswool mitt
Flood car, dry with Cobra Guzzler
Wax with Pinnacle Signature Series II
Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax on exterior glass
Pinnacle Black Onyx tire gel on tires

Just to note, I applied the wax over a couple weeks old application of Meguiar's #21 Synthetic Sealant. Now for some pics. Just some afters.

    Thanks for looking!

    Looks great, I like it.

Do you always clean your tires and wheelwells with APC Plus? I tried it once on tires and I could not get as good of a slurry as I can with APC. So I just use APC Plus on carpets now since it doesnt foam.

I agree with Tuck 2x; Cutlass looks great, and I used APC Plus twice on wheels/tires and never again. I didn't get good results, especially apparent after tire dried.

I like the look of that gel on those tires. What year is the Cutlass/how many miles? Looks good!

Thanks! I don't always use APC+, sometimes I use Super Degreaser 10:1. I used APC+ at a 4:1 ratio for this time. I didn't have any issues with it. I save APC for interiors and just use APC+ and SD for the exterior.

The Cutlass is a 1995. Can't remember the exact mileage - it's right under 130,000. Thanks for the compliment!

Shane, your Cutlass looks great as ever. Nice work. I have to say this. I also never had any luck with apc+. it is great that it works for you.

Looks nice. Was that your first time using Pinnacle Signature Series II? What do you think of it?

Yes, this was my first time using SS II. Very nice wax, so easy to use, and it smells awesome! It's a bit pricey at $49.99 for an 8 oz. jar, but I think it is well worth it. It was amazing how much warmth it added to the paint. Definitely a keeper.

I've never seen a Cutlass look that good up here!

Shane, the Cutlass looks great for any mileage but for just under 130,000 it looks awesome. For tires if they are really dirty I like Wesley's Bleach White. If you use it in the garage it smells pretty strong though.

Okay, you pushed me over the edge, Shane. I had a "boutique" wax in my shopping cart, there was a special and I ordered it, not that one but another one. I have to say that does look fantastic on your car.

Hard to compare the boutique waxes, though, at $40 and up for a small jar. Someone could probably make money making sampler sets out of them with maybe a tablespoon or less each and people could put on test spots and compare them.
