  • 2005 Infiniti G35x Sedan; Brilliant Silver

(sorry some of the pictures are so small, I do write-ups in MSWord, converted to .pdf for customers, and I guess I saved the wrong file size, as these file sizes were appropriate for the .pdf....you can still make out what's going on, though I think)

I was approached by a customer to do both of his Infiniti G35's, this is the first in Brilliant Silver. Both cars are 2005's, purchased separately though, and while they are washed regularly and maintained very well, I don't think they've ever been really detailed. You know what I mean, by someone with Meguiar's products and passion? I liked working with this customer: he had been duped by "professional" detailers before. His main concerns were general Spring cleaning, with a focus on protecting the vehicle in and out. No problem! It was also exciting to show someone the difference between what it is to "Wash & Wax" vs. "Wash & Clean & Polish & Protect". On to the show...

Here it is as it arrived: not too much wheel and tire work to do, the paint was generally clean of surface dirt, I blew up an area that had some white paint transfer...really hard to see, sorry:

This vehicle needed clayed in the worst way; I thought the hood and passenger's side to be bad; but when I got to the trunk I was blown away. Here is what the clay looked like after an 8" x 4" section; I went through pretty much an entire clay bar on this car:

I attended to the dozen or so RIDS along the driver's side and some on the roof with 105 by hand. Then, the entire vehicle was polished with 205 by D/A. Two coats of M21 applied, as per request.

Here are some shots of Ultimate Protectant on the mirror trim, and a 50/50 of wiper cowl:

Here are before/afters of exhaust tips: polished with steel wool; then Never Dull:

Rubber floor mats cleaned with APC and a brush, then I applied some M40. M40 is great here since you don't want the mats to be slick; but it restores some of the black:

All interior and trunk was vacuumed; complete wipe-down of hard surfaces, applied Ultimate Protectant to everything, used GC Leather Cleaner and Conditioner, really brought black leather back to life.

    Some final shots:

As you can tell, I wasn't really focused on photography that day...sorry for the weird sizes, angles, etc. But there it is! Stay tuned for its sister car in Pearl White...
