Mazda 3, not sure of the year. It has close to 30k so its probably only a few years old. Just a basic detail, nothing too special. Only thing that they need to change with these cars is the carpet, its a real PITA to vacumm and is really hard to clean.

    Before:

Wash wheels, tires, and wells with Deep Crystal Car Wash, All Purpose Cleaner, Wheel Brightener, and different brushes.

The car was washed with Shampoo Plus, bugs were treated with Body Solvent.

    Rinsed....

I then made my way inside the trunk, it took about twenty minutes just to vacumm it and wipe down the jambs with #135 - Synthetic Spray Detailer

Door jambs were too dirty just to wipe down. I rinsed them out with the "mist" setting and scrubbed them with All Purpose Cleaner and various brushes. Then they were rinsed again and wiped out with a terry cloth.

The interior was cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner, then dressed with Quik Interior Detailer. Vents and crevices were brushes out like usual as well.

The exterior was clayed with Detailing Clay (Mild) and Last Touch Spray Detailer. I then applied a coat of #20 - Polymer Sealant with my PC set at speed 4, I worked it in well to take advantage of the cleaning ability. Tires and fenderwells were dressed with All Season Dressing. All glass was cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate at 10:1.

Thats a pretty sick ride man! My GF owns a 2004 Mazda 3i 4DR in Sunflower Yellow, and I quite agree, the interior can be a bit of a PITA! =) I must say though, for a basic detail, that sucker looks like it rolled off the showroom floor yesterday! Well done!

Thanks, turned out alright for a basic one step detail. Was suprised how swirl free the paint was, the owner must not really be washing it incorrectly.

Looks good as usual, sir. I'll add to the Mazda interior bashing...

I was testing out a steam cleaner, commercial quality I believe, and was having some success doing a few other vehicles. Then I worked on a Mazda 3, in fact I think it was same color/year as this one only the 4 door. It seemed like some of the surfaces just wouldn't give it up, strange considering I had had luck previously. Those seats reminded me of a bookbag-type material or something, tough for stain removal.

I hear you on the interior. I recently cleaned up one for a friend (a 2007 model) that he was trading in (he bought a 2010 - I hope to be able to do a quick detail on it before too long). Just doing the carpet took a while, and I still didn't get it perfect with my little vacuum. Not that it was really dirty, I just hate that kind of carpet. Wish I could have taken some pics, but I didn't have time. Took me about 3 and 1/2 hours to do a basic detail. Very nice job on the Mazda, btw. Looks very crisp and clean!

Thank you John! Did you eventually find a good method? Vacumming and dry brushing only helped a little bit.

LOL! your right about the seats! There were some light stains on the seat I cleaned with APC Plus and a terry cloth. There were a real PITA to remove.

You should have posted a writeup, but I understand that you were pressed for time. It happens to me a lot as well though.

I'll most likely turn down any future Mazda details that have this carpet issue, I'd rather pass up the money than let dingy looking carpets out my door, I am serious LOL!

Do you typically do the engine on your more extensive details? I just realized that I never see any engine pics in your writeups. I don't like to do much more to engines beyond a basic wipe down if they are lightly dirty - guess I'm just fearful of screwing up something up.

Yes, I do them on my more extensive details. I do not do the engine if its just a basic detail. I charge extra to do the engine as well.

I am doing fifteen basic details for a local doctor's office, just a one step cleaner wax on the exterior and the interior detailed. It would have cost a lot more in the long run to pay $30 per car for the engine done, plus I only have a certain amount of time.

I think you have seen engine pics in some of my writeups though....
