1999 Chevrolet silverado Z71

This is my brothers truck..it took me a total of 7 hours and i still couldn't get all the swirls out...but 80% is gone...this is my first time trying to remove swirls..i was using the ulitmte compand and a lc orange pad....i'm asumming that i needed a yellow pad to remove all the defects?

Anyway he has owned it's since brand new and it's almost 11 years old.

If memory serves me right Lake Country Orange Pad is more aggressive than Meguiar's Polishing Pad.

Did you try to tackle a large area? Sometimes people tend to work big and not concentrating enough on a section. You can try picking a spot and doing a test spot, same product/pad combination, if the test spot area shows the results you are looking then you'll have to repeat the entire process or just know for the next time you are working to keep the work area small

Pretty nice looking 11 yr old truck!

Swirls must be pretty stout not to submit to that combo. GM clearcoats that I've encountered tend to be on the hard side. There's some patience and perseverence involved, it isn't always just about the tools and products you use. Sometimes we look for instant gratification when two or three section passes.. or more, are required.

If you're looking for a more aggressive pad I would advise against LC yellow. They leave a lot of marring. Ever since I tried LC's Purple Foamed Wool my yellow pads have moved to the back of the cabinet. The PFW cut good when needed and easing up the pressure, even with UC or 105, on lighter colors I've gone straight to LSP with pleasing results. YMMV.

The up close pic makes it look like SOM. 1999 Did offer Dark Copper Metallic and a Dark Car Carmine Red.
