  • My first Wax

    Hello Everyone! I am from Pakistan and we have a very dusty environment here unlike the West. Cars get pretty dusty here after hours. Fortunately for us, we have drivers who wash the car daily. This also creates problems as the daily wash causes swirls. In order to keep the paint in perfect finish, I try to get my cars waxed once at least each 2-3 weeks. I recently bought a couple of new cars and therefore have been quite interested in their maintenance. I searched hard and for the first time in my life bought microfiber cloths for daily cleaning. Also searched hard and bought Mothers California Gold Carnuaba Wax. Sorry but Meguiars products are not available in my country.

    Anyways, Today I waxed my new car. This one was bought in Mid Feb 2010 and currently has 5,000km on the ODO. What do you guys think of the job? Personally speaking I didn't found much of a difference over 'before the wax' position.

    Would appreciate all comments, suggestions and tips!

          Well, with such a new car and it being silver in color, it's not a huge surprise that you don't notice a huge difference between "before" and "after" wax. If you don't have a lot of swirls that you first corrected with a paint cleaner then you won't see much of a difference as nothing really changed. Give it a year or two of exposure to all the dust and washing you spoke of and you'll likely be ready for a good paint cleaner to correct the swirls and remove embedded dirt. Following that full cleaning/waxing regimen you'll notice a greater difference between the "before" and "after", but silver tends to hide a lot of defects. Which would seem to make it a good choice for your environment!

            I would not be buying a black car in Pakistan!

            You should have bought the Mothers Cleaner Wax. That would give you a nice improvement compared to just normal wax. The cleaners will give the paint clarity and make it look nicer.

              Thanks alot for the input! Much appreciated!
              I would also like to add here that a care care shop in another city just got dealership of Meguiars products and has quite some available. Since I will be ordering via phone, would appreciate if you can recommend which products I should get considering the environment I live in (dusty + extreme heat) and new cars I have

              @all
