  • My car :)

So yesterday I decided it was time for the paint correction of my ride. I needed to get those swirls out....So here was my process...

I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION? DOES ABYBODY TAPE OFF TRIM?? I DID IT AND IT TOOK SOO LONG?!?

    1. Washed with Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
    2. Clayed with whit Clay
    3. Got out the XP7242 with an orange LC pad
    4. Applied the best paint correction product ive seen for minor swirls (M205)
Made about 3-4 passes working the product for about 90 seconds
    5. Applied 2 coats of Nxt 2.0...and finally dressed every thing with HyperDressing
    heres some pics...

Nice job there! I was always wondering what your Suzuki looked like.

As for the taping off. I do it whenever I plan on using any paint cleaners, polishes or carnaba waxes.

Occasionally I don't tape off the car to apply a quick coat of NXT 2.0. But yes, it takes me a while to apply the tape too. Then again, I'm slow at everything.

The car looks great! For the taping, after personally having spent the last couple of weeks of detailing some cars and having to try and scrub dried wax off of trim, I vote tape it when there might be the chance of getting a lot on the trim, like when using a machine. I won't tape anything off if I am working by hand.

            Car looks great.

A tip that may help your taping time......

Next time try making your tape runs longer. For example, in the fifth picture showing the side, you have at least 35 small pieces of tape going around the windows. I'm pretty sure I could go around that area with less than five pieces, probably three (and I don't consider myself a pro). The right tape (I like 3M 233+) is very forgiving and can be manipulated around curves pretty easily with practice. This will help greatly on your time spent taping, when taping is needed.

I quickly did a youtube search and found a video showing some things that might help. I'm sure you could find more with a little more searching.

thanks soo much...the tape i used what "automative masking tape". It didnt take curves easily thats why there is sooo many pieces...

Your car looks great. Looks sweet.

As for taping. I find that with practice your speed in taping increases. (like most things). I also find that it dramatically cuts down on your clean up time. So all things being relative. I vote for taping all the time.

Looks very clean. I would be careful with that rear window sticker....kind of advertising what you have in it. Unless your town/city is low crime?
