Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've posted a write up with pics. With a new house and all I've been quite busy to say the least.
A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to a new very nice client by a fellow MOL'er. The customer came by so I can take a look at his car for an estimate. When I first saw the car drive up I thought to myself, geez, this car looks pretty clean already and from what I can see not too many swirls. Actually, for being a black car it was better than the ordinary. He wanted only the exterior worked on and didn't want too much paint removed. I figured ok great that shouldn't be an issue, so we set up the date. Fast forward to this past weekend. 7am he drives up and I have to say with the morning light reflecting off the paint I was even more impressed. Cool, I'll go at it with some ONR and follow that up with some clay. Here is what the car looked like before I started.

Well that doesn't look too bad.
Some wax residue

After the ONR wash I began to clay when I started to realize some oily type of smears on the hood. hmmm, I did a test spot and that turned out good and I noticed how more slick the unpolished area was from the polished spot. Looks like the paint had some type of petroleum based layer on it so out goes the car for a thorough wash x2. Once that was done and the car was dried up the true paint condition came out. Whoa, looks like whatever was on the paint masked the swirls pretty good.

50/50

Although the paint didn't feel too bad there were some bonded contaminants

Part of the hood polished and taken out under the sun

Hood area completed first stage

Close to 10pm and I'm ready to call it a day.

After I was done going over the car I was ready to give it another wash to remove the dust M105 left behind

I re-touched a couple of chipped paint spots.

Under magnification this is what it looked like

I totally forgot to get some after shots once it was touched up. It came out good but I think it could have come out alot better.
Well it was late and there was no way I was going to capture some daytime completion photos. So here is what I was able to get.

This reflection in person looked amazing

Thought this was a cool pic

Customer came by to pick up his car and I'm happy to say he was happy with the results. Turns out the car had been through a few auctions and there is no telling what was put on it to hide the swirls. Aside from all that there was some NXT 2.0 and some #7 on it as well. Since he has NXT 2.0 and wanted to maintain the car himself with the same wax I topped it off with well NXT 2.0 ofcourse.
I'm sure I could have added another 20 or so hours to this car but where it is now at compared to before it is at a satisfactory level with the customer.
