Last year I started to pay attention to cleaning and maintaining my car, and then became very frustrated after seeing no results from using SwirlX, Scratch 2.0, and Ultimate Compound on my car. I drove miles and miles just to get to a store that might stock something I can use to get rid of the swirls but still found no success. Then I was on the verge of quitting until members here encouraged me to keep detailing, and if I couldn't get rid of the swirls, I could at least keep my car clean and prevent it from getting more swirls.
A few weeks ago, Jersey saw some sun, and I saw some swirls. Then my OCD kicked in and I decided that I have to get a DA Polisher and make my car swirl-free. This Saturday, Andy M. from the forums was kind enough to drive an hour in the hurricane-like weather to meet me and sell me his G100 and even threw in three pads! And now, after a week of rain and clouds, the sun finally came out, and I was ready to detail!
Here's my car, after a having put about 500 miles on it over the winter. I cleaned the wheels a few weeks back but drove about 150 miles on Saturday, so the wheel aren't very clean anymore.

And today I noticed that someone/something has hit the back corner of my car. The damage is not major, but I think this can be fixed with a little UC!

Now let's look at the swirls have been bothering me this whole time! On the hood:

On the top part of the fender:

Wash: I washed with NXT car wash and the two bucket method. Two grit guards were also used.
![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/13.jpg)
Clay: I clayed with Meguiar's Professional Detailing Clay Mild, with Quik Detailer as a lubricant.
![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/16.jpg)
All the dirt from just the two front doors!
![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/17a.jpg)
Paint correction: I polished with Meguiar's G100, W-9006, UC, on speed 6. I first tried using speed 4 and 5, but none of which showed major improvements.

Trunk had more swirls than the hood:

![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/22.jpg)
With some G100 and UC, problem's solved:
![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/25.jpg)
![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/26.jpg)
The back bumper was also fixed to the best of my ability. The whole line of damage was reduced to just one spot:
![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z5/AmazingGracePlayer/Vostro/Cadillac%202010/27a.jpg)
The car was then polished with M07 and waxed with M26. M07 does wonders on this car. Cadillac calls this car's paint "sunset blue" because it can appear to be silver, baby blue, or dolphin gray depending on the amount/intensity of light shone on the car. M07 brings the deep gray out of the paint, and makes it look a lot wetter and darker than it really is when not directly under the sun. I applied the polish and wax by hand with Meguiar's foam applicator pads.
And now, some finished shots:

After detailing, I had about half an hour left before I had to go and pick my sister up from school, so I decided to install the new side markers I bought. They had clear lens when I first bought them, but I tinted them with VHT Niteshade to a light/medium gray to match the color scheme of my car. I also cleaned the wheels again with APC 4:1, and the tires got a spray of NXT Insane Shine.

In my sister's school's parking lot, I saw this car parked next to me. I would've gone nuts if that were my car!

After about 6 hours of work, I'm very pleased with the result even though the G100 made my fingers feel numb from time to time
That's the end of my write-up. I'm new to writing up detailing processes (new to detailing with a DA as well), and would love your comments/inputs! Thanks! ![Scottwax2](https://www.meguiarsonline.com/core/images/smilies/Scottwax2.gif)
